Taylor whined weakly, opening his tired eyes to look up at Jayden. He was shaking violently and didn't seem to be quite present or coherent, but he was awake.
Taylor whined weakly, opening his tired eyes to look up at Jayden. He was shaking violently and didn't seem to be quite present or coherent, but he was awake.
Jayden felt horrible for Taylor and held his hand as he looked at them. "The paramedics are here, just a few more minutes and then they'll take care of you."
He nodded a bit and weakly gripped Jayden's hand, struggling immensely to stay awake. Despite his efforts, he had passed out by the time they reached the hospital.
Jayden held onto his hand as they tried not to cry, holding their tears back. "Come on, please, please…please…."
Jayden was forced to stay in the waiting room while Taylor was rushed into a room. After quick x rays, he was moved into an operating room.
Jayden fiddled with their fingers as they kept stressing over Taylor, praying and hoping that Taylor would be fine. They couldn't imagine what would happen if Taylor wasn't fine.
After an hour or two, Jayden was allowed in to see Taylor. Taylor had on a breathing mask and had a cast on his leg. He seemed to be at least stable, although he was still unconscious.
Jayden walked into the room and it broke their heart to see Taylor like this. They went over and sat down next to him, sighing softly and looking at him. "Taylor, please get better. I know you're not awake but still…just…please."
Taylor stirred a bit, his breath fogging up the breathing mask every time he exhaled. "Do you know what happened exactly?" A paramedic asked Jayden.
Jayden glanced at the paramedic. "Oh–he had his leg mangled and stuck under his car by the time I got there, said it was a hit and run." They answered, glancing at Taylor when he stirred a bit.
They nodded and scribbled something down on a clipboard. "Is that all you or he knows?" They asked. "It would be helpful if he could remember anything about the car that hit him."
"He didn't tell me much about the car that hit him, sorry," Jayden answered. "You could probably ask him after he wakes up and has rested for a bit?"
They nodded again and left Jayden and Taylor alone. After around another hour, Taylor started stirring again, and he eventually opened his eyes a bit.
Jayden glanced at Taylor when he opened his eyes. "Taylor? How do you feel?'
"Where am I…?" Taylor asked weakly, his voice cracked and broken.
"In the hospital," Jayden answered softly, looking relieved Taylor had woken up. "How do you feel?'
"Sore… feels like all the energy was sucked outta my body through a straw and then I got thrown under a bus…"
"You'll feel better soon," Jayden replied. "I'll go get a nurse, give me a second."
Taylor nodded, curling up into a tight ball while he waited for Jayden to return.
Jayden went out into the hallway and tried to get a nurse's attention, telling her Taylor and woken up as she made her way into the room and looking over Taylor.
"Is it okay if we ask you questions about the car that hit you?" The nurse asked.
"Mmmm… yeah, sure. What all do you want to know?" Taylor asked weakly, unfurling from his ball a little bit.
"What type of car was it?" The nurse asked, getting out her clipboard and glancing at Taylor, ready to write everything down.
"Umm… I believe it was some kind of SUV? A big car. Maybe an Explorer or an Acadia. And I don't remember any of the numbers on the license plate, but I remember it was a UK plate. Oh! The car was gray, I think."
The nurse nodded, scribbling down some notes about the car. "Did you see the man? Or did you see his physique?"
Taylor shook his head. "No, I couldn't really see much of the person in the car… it did look like a man, though, from the glimpse I saw."
