The nurse nodded. "Is there anything else you wish to tell us?"
The nurse nodded. "Is there anything else you wish to tell us?"
Taylor considered for a few seconds before he shook his head. "No. I'll let you know if I remember anything else, though."
The nurse nodded with a smile, putting away her clipboard away and going to check Taylor's vitals.
Taylor seemed to be overall okay. He was in pain, obviously, but he was stable and conscious and was making steps in the right direction.
Jayden stood by, looking nervous as they fiddled with the hem of their shirt. They weren't sure what to do, call Maddy and Nolan or wait until Taylor was better. "Do you want me to call Maddy and Nolan or no?"
"Oh! Yes, you should. At least let them know I'm okay. We can get them an uber or something if they want to come see me."
"Do you want to call them?" Jayden asked, taking out their phone. "Or, should I?"
"Um… I probably can…" Taylor looked around until he found his phone. "I'll just call Maddy… Nolan doesn't have a phone, and I'm sure she'll bring him over." He dialed Maddy's number and put her on speaker. "Taylor? Is that you? Are you okay?" Maddy asked worriedly. "Yeah, it's me. I'm alright. I'm in the hospital, but the doctors say I'm gonna be okay."
Jayden leaned against the wall as they looked around, not sure what to do again.
"I'm gonna call you a cab, okay?" "Yeah, okay. Me and Nolly wanna be there as soon as possible." "Alright, I'll have to hang up. I'll see you soon, alright?" "Yeah, okay…" Taylor hung up and called a cab for Maddy and Nolan and then sighed.
"Everything went okay?" Jayden asked after Taylor hung up, glancing around the hospital.
Taylor nodded. "Yeah… they should be here soon." He sighed and set down the phone. "This is all such a mess…"
"It's fine," Jayden smiled at him reassuringly. "It wasn't your fault."
"I know, I know… it just… it sucks. We've got insurance, but I don't think it'll cover all this, and we haven't got a whole lot of money to spare."
"I can help, I can work more jobs and help with the money. Of course, that's if you want me to." Jayden fiddled with the hem of their shirt, looking nervous.
"I… I don't want to cause you any trouble, Jay… really. I'm the one who needs to be working harder." He sighed, glancing down at his useless leg with dismay.
"You need to rest, and it wouldn't cause me any trouble," Jayden walked over to his bed and sat next to the bed. "You're my friend, Tay, and you've helped me a lot."
Taylor looked up at Jayden meekly, feeling horribly guilty. "Are… are you really sure, Jay? I really don't want to make things harder for you."
"I'm sure." Jayden looked at him with a reassuring smile. "Just trust me, okay?"
Taylor hesitated before nodding, his stomach still churning with guilt over it. "I-I… alright, just… let me know if you need anything, okay?"
Jayden nodded. "I will."
Taylor sighed and closed his eyes, only opening them when he heard Maddy and Nolan enter the room. "Taylor! Are you okay?" Nolan asked, checking over his older brother worriedly. "Yeah, yeah… don't worry guys, m'alright."
