Chesh''s eyes lit up and she became excited. "You get to go to school! That's so cool!" She said, with stars in her eyes.

Arria chuckled, "I didn't have a choice in the matter, everyone has too."

Chesh stared at him. "Everyone gets to go to school?" She asked, tilting her head to the side.

"Isn't it the same on land?" Arria frowned, "Yeah, everyone has to go, it's the law."

Chesh rubbed the back of her neck. "Couldn't afford it. I had to work. We needed the money." She said, sheepishly. "I wish I could have though."

“Eh, school was boring. I’m sure you’d find it the same after a while.” He shrugged.

"But at least you know how to write! And read!" Chesh pointed out.

“You… you don’t know how to read?” Arria’s eyes widened.

Chesh blushed slightly out of embarrassment. "I-I can read a few words." She said.

“Do you… do you want me to teach you? Not like I have anything better to do down here.” He smiled.

Chesh stared at him. "Umm…Sure?" She said. "Do you even have the same written language as us?" She asked.

Aria shrugged, “I can understand you fine, I should be able to read your words fine.”

Chesh nodded. "I-I don't really have any book or anything to read though." She said.

“Is there anyway you could find one on the ship?” He tilted his head to the side.

She shrugged. "I'm pretty sure the crew members wouldn't let me borrow any of there's and Robert definitely wouldn't let me have any of his." She explained. "Just forget about it, alright?" She said, sadly.

Arria frowned and sighed, “Okay… sorry.”

Chesh shook her head. "It's fine! Don't worry about it." She said putting on a smile.

He pouted, “You’re upset. I can tell, Chesh.”

"No no no! I'm fine." She said putting up her hands and shaking them. "I-I'm fine! Really!"

Arria sighed and still didn’t look convinced but nodded, “Okay… whatever you say.”

She sighed with relief. "Thanks!" She said.

Arria was quiet for a moment, tugging on the collar, “Do… do you know if any more mer people have been found?”

Chesh watched him tug on the collar. She gave him a look of pity. "Not that I know of. There are always the legends but I'm not sure if those are true." She told him.
