Chesh noded as she walked in. "You wanted to see me, sir?" She asked Robert, who was sitting at his desk.
Robert didn't look up from where he was looking at a map on his desk, just motioned to the single, wooden seat on the other side, "Sit."
Chesh sighed and sat down. This was not going to be good. At all.
Robert was silent for a while longer, his jaw clenched as if he was trying to hold back his anger, "Would you like to explain," He started slowly, "Why are were down with the merman?"
"When the men dragged him across the deck nails cut his tail. He was hurt. I figured you wouldn't want your money maker to be damaged." She explained, her face blank of emotion. Though on the inside she was freaking out.
"God dammit Cheshire!" He banged his fist of the table, "What have I told you about not doing things without my permission!? I don't care if he was bleeding, you should have waited instead of rushing into things!"
Chesh jumped at the slamming of his fist. "Why should I of asked you?" She asked with a calm voice.
"I'm the gods damned captain! You work for me and he is my prize. Next time, you come to me first before doing anything stupid." He practically growled.
She glared at him. "How is helping him stupid? And why is he your prize?" She yelled at him, standing up.
"This is my ship Cheshire. Not yours. I say what goes, he is my prize as this is my ship," He yelled back, fists clenching, "You have no right to question what I do or say."
"I have ever right as a human! I may be a girl but that does not hinder anything about this situation! And he is human as well! He deserves to be treated like one and not some dog!" She yelled, pointing a finger at him.
He growled before slapping her hard across the cheek, "He is not human in any way. Get. Out. Before I loose my patience with you more."
She grabbed her cheek. It hurt like hell but she would not show it. She left, slamming the door behind her. She ran down the stairs to where Arria was. I'm going to get killed for this.
Jake, who was standing by the door and heard everything, just shook his head and decided to follow her.
Arria looked up when Chesh returned and frowned a little. He took one look at er cheek and his eyes widened, "Triton… what happened?"
She let out a cry of anger and punched the wall. It hurt but she didn't care. She was pissed. She leaned against the wall and slid down it, putting her head in her hands. "I hate him." She muttered.
Arria winced while Jake leaned against the entrance, staying quiet. Arria pushed himself up onto the deck with a small grunt and pushed his hair out of his face before adjusting the collar, "Who? The Captain? What did he do?"
"It doesn't matter." She said, her cheek still stinging from the slap and her hand from the punch. "What do you need Jake?" She asked, feeling the presence of the man leaning against the entrance.
"Nothing. I'm just making sure you don't do anything stupid but…" He motioned to her hand, "I'm a little late on that part," He turned to Arria and nodded, "Hey man."
"Hey."
She chuckled. "Good to see you two are getting along." She said, looking between them.
Arria rolled his eyes but smiled nonetheless, "Hey, I need at least more then one friend on this ship." Jake laughed and sat down next to Chesh, "And I could always use more friends."
She laughed. "I'm glad to see one of the crew members isn't treating Arria like shit." She said as she threw her arm over Jake's shoulder.
Jake nudged her gently as Arria slid back into the water, "You know me. I wouldn't hurt him unlike some of the others. A few were saying they wouldn't either, you know. I might have eavesdropped."
"I know some won't bit we both know others will." She said. "And you eavesdrop too much for your own good. I bet you were eavesdropping on my and Roberts conversation."
(Before you go all Grammer Nazi on me and say 'It should be Robert and my .' Remember. Chesh has almost no education so she probably wouldn't know that.)
(lol, I wasn't going to but I'll make sure to remember)
Jake rubbed at his neck and smiled sheepishly, "You got me there. You shouldn't have yelled at him, you're only going to make it worse."
She sighed. "I know. It''s just that I couldn't have him talk about Atria like that." She said looking at Arria. "He kept referring to you as 'not human'. And I know that you technicaly aren't but you still deseve to be treated like a person."
