Eclipse just let out a low whimper, flinching at the flashes of light outside.
Eclipse just let out a low whimper, flinching at the flashes of light outside.
"Can I… Can I do anything to help?" Felix offered.
It wasn't his fault, but he still felt bad about the situation.
Eclipse shook his head, staying low to the ground as he triedto ignore the flashes outside.
“Hey, focus on me,” Felix said, leaning slightly in Eclipse’s direction, “It’ll be okay. I’m here, and I won’t let anything bad happen.”
Eclipse's eyes slowly flicked over to Felix, his entire body flat to the ground and ready to bolt.
Felix felt secondhand fear run through his body. He instinctively reached out a hand to Eclipse, offering for him to take it.
“It’s okay, you’re okay…” he whispered.
Eclipse placed a paw on the other's hand, otherwise staying rooted to the ground.
Felix kept muttering reassurance to the half-wolf, prepared to stay with him all night if he had to.
He carefully laid down on his stomach to get comfortable, but kept his hand where it was.
Another loud crash of thunder rang through the air, and Eclipse let out a whimper, not just out of fear, but pain too, as the noise was hurting his ears.
Felix looked down. Was that pain in his eyes?
"A-are you hurting?" He asked, "Gods, can I help?"
Eclipse shook his head, ears flat against his skull.
Felix bit his lip.
I want to get closer to comfort him, but…
He inched just a little closer and placed a hand on the back of the other’s head.
Eclipse was very, very tense under the other's touch, every muscle coiled tight.
Felix drew back.
“Sorry, I should’ve asked first,” he muttered.
His thoughts were racing. He just wanted to help.
He wasn't tense because of the other, but rather the storm, visibly flinching when the next crash of thunder came.
Felix leaned in towards Eclipse even closer. He laid his head down next to the other, feeling his fur brush barely against his cheek.
It took several minutes, but by the next crash of thunder came, Eclipse had nosed his way back against the other's side, still tense and quivering.
Felix, still tense at the other's touch, tried to calm himself so he could help Eclipse.
"It's okay, it's okay," he muttered, just as much to himself as to Eclipse.
Eclipse whimpered softly after the next crash, more from pain than fear, now suffering from a major migraine.
Felix has barely willed it. It was almost more like instinct when a soft green glow of magic unfurled from his fingertips and sank down into Eclipse’s fur.
Perhaps it would ease the pain, though.
Eclipse felt it, not quite understanding what it was, but almost instantly relaxing a little, the quivering tension dissolving ever so slightly.
Felix felt a wave of exhaustion pass over him once again, but that was okay. Eclipse seemed to be doing a bit better.
“You okay?” he whispered.
Eclipse shook his head, a clear no, but either way he was better than before, the hint of magic from the other having eased some of the pain, and his tense muscles, though it wasn't a permanent fix.
"Okay, well… I'm here… I'll hold you until it's over," Felix promised.
He still felt little sparks of magic draining from him. He shouldn't be doing this, but here he was. It was so instinctive, though. He wanted so desperately to stop Eclipse's pain. That's all he'd wanted since they first met.
Eclipse whimpered and shook his head, realizing the magic touch was from him, the look in his eyes very firmly telling him not to waste it on him. I'm just a mixbreed mutt…. not worth it…. he thought, wincing when the next crash of thunder came.
