Saul wakes the next day, bleary. They yawn, and get up.
"Hello?" they call.
Saul wakes the next day, bleary. They yawn, and get up.
"Hello?" they call.
Gus blinked his eyes open, getting up from the spot next to Saul. "Oh… y-you're awake!" He cheered, before his emotions sank once more. "Are you alright?"
Saul looks at Gus blearily, then wraps him in a tight hug, eyes closed tightly.
Gus shivered, rubbing Saul's back as his breath quickened. "S-saul? Are you alright?"
Saul shakes their head, a muffled exclamation escaping them. "No."
Gus tenderly ran a hand along the side of Saul's face, tilting his head slightly as he inched ever so closer. "Saul, whats wrong." He said, more of a statement than a question
Saul takes a deep breath. "I- I had a dream. I don't dream, but I slept, and I dreamt of us, this place, going up in flames. You still inside… me on the outside."
Gus kept his hand on Saul's skin, brow furrowing as he listened to their disheartened voice. "Wh- I dont understand… Isn't it just a dream?"
"I do not dream, Gus. That's the problem." Saul says raggedly.
Gus looked down, his mind racing with possibilities. "Y-you think…. oh god… you think there's…" He couldn't get the words out, swallowing hard as the fear in his heart pounded harder
"There's many possibilities, but… the most likely is that it's prophetic, yes." Saul says, turning away.
Gus held a hand to his mouth, shaking his head. "Well… well, we can stop it, right? We know what's going to happen, so we can stop it."
Saul stands. "I- I think the reason why I was shown standing outside the burning house is because I start it. I don't know if we can change it, but I hope to all the gods that I don't do what I saw."
They turn. "I swear on my life, I will not hurt you. Never again."
Gus looked up, his lip quivering as his hand hell to his side. "I'll keep you safe. I'll make sure it doesn't happen."
Saul chuckles slightly, sadly. "I think I'm the one that needs to make that promise."
They sit down on the floor, pulling Gus against them. Soon, they fall asleep.
Gus blushed at Saul's tug, smiling as he melted into their arms. It wasn't long before his own eyes fluttered shut and he drifted off to unconsciousness.
(These two… I love them so much.)
Saul wakes up a few hours later, warmer than they usually are. They realize what happened last night, and chuckle slightly, not wanting to disturb Gus. He looks so… peaceful.
(Sameee!!)
Gus stirred slightly at Saul's movements, then curled into their chest. He let out a soft sigh as a smile brushed across his lips.
Saul grins at Gus's small smile, and doesn't move for a while, not wanting to disturb Gus from his sleep any more than they had.
Gus, however, was beginning to awaken. his eyes blinking open as he blushed at the sight of Saul.
''oh… uh… s-sorry.'' he stammered, a bit embarrassed
Saul shakes their head, chuckling. "Don't worry about it."
Gus sat up, rubbing the sleep from his face as he laughed with Saul. "God I… I just fell asleep, didn't I." He mumbled. "Oh, anywho… did the house catch on fire?" he asked with a bit of concern
"Yes, you did, but I can't blame you." Saul grins.
They laugh. "No. It can't catch fire anyways."
Gus felt himself relax back into Saul's arms, sighing gently. "Of course… right." He muttered, closing his eyes again. "What will we be doing today? Are those bad people still out there?"
Saul shrugs. "I didn't find them. So probably."
They grin. "We'll be staying inside today. I see you've been investigating as well."
