"No, I cannot." Saul sighs.
"Part of it." they shrug.
"No, I cannot." Saul sighs.
"Part of it." they shrug.
Gus tilted his head, rubbing his soft fingers along Saul's hand as he looked up with amazement. "That's… I've never even heard of anyone capable of that before."
Saul grins and shrugs. "Not very many can, and none of them want it to be known. I've been alive since… oh, let's see… there was the Founding Fathers in my teens, and then when I was an adult there was the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, both World Wars, and the war in Vietnam. Probably some others I'm forgetting, But the point is, I've witnessed much more than I ever wanted to."
Gus raised his eyebrows, feeling quite confused, and reeling from the information. "Holy… that long??" He mumbled. Never before had he encountered someone with such an ability
Saul grins. "Yeah… sometimes I wonder why I, of all people, was given this ability, but… I long since started thinking about that."
Gus swayed from side to side, tilting his head as he examined Saul's face. It did seem quite… experienced. Tossed by the rampant scars of time.
"R-right…" He mumbled, his mind doing the opposite. Live forever?? The words echoed through his mind. Oh gods…
Saul's grin disappears as they watch Gus sway. They put their hands on his shoulders, steadying him.
"Are- are you okay?" they ask.
Gus nodded, closing his eyes as he listened to Saul's soothing voice. "Yeah… just, just processing things…" He mumbled. "I-I best not be keeping you anyways"
"Hey, hey. Don't worry about me, seriously." Saul says, finally making up their mind and kissing Gus on the lips. Before he has time to react, Saul is gone.
(Im so sorry for the late response!!)
Gus froze, his face turning a bright red as he watched Saul just… disappear.
And with that, he was alone. And Saul was in danger. And yet again, he couldn't help.
Gus sank to his knees, using everything in him to try and track Saul down. "Oh dammit…" He muttered, sniffing softly.
(You're good!)
The days passed, slowly, as Saul slowly tracked down each culprit responsible for the murders. By Friday, they were back at Gus's.
"I'm back!" they call, stepping into the house.
Gus had transformed the apartment into some kind of crazed research project, mapping each of the murders and dabbling a bit into Saul's previous ordeals. The space was littered with news articles, possible leads, and a fuck ton of cake.
Gus was completely exhausted, but that all changed as they finally laid eyes on Saul. "You came back!! You really came back!!" He cried, hugging the other. "I didn't think you would come back…"
Saul looks around, but is stopped short By Gus's hug. They grin.
"Of course I came back." they murmur, holding Gus tightly. "I promised I would, and I meant it."
Gus sniffed, shaking his head as he squoze tighter. "Don't do that again. I was so scared… I was just about to come after you." He murmured through gentle tears.
"are you okay? Are you hurt? Do you need anything?"
Saul chuckles. "Okay, okay… I didn't mean to scare you."
They lean back slightly. "I'm okay. I'm not hurt. And I could really use a glass of wine right now."
Gus was at his feet in a moment, pouring a glass of his finest bottle. “Anything else?”
Saul laughs slightly, draining the glass in a single gulp. "A piece of cake… and a kiss?"
Gus froze, turning bright red as he looked up. The kiss. The thing that had been on his mind ever since Saul left. He shakily dropped a knife, cussing as he went to retrieve it.
“I… I mean… oh dear…”
Saul laughs at that, the knife popping into the sink, a clean one poping onto the cake dish. "I'm just teasing, dear. Unless, of course…"
Gus chuckled nervously, face bright red as he cleared his throat and brought Saul a slice, still shaking. “Well, uh, here you are.”
Saul chuckles, enjoying teasing Gus. "Thank you."
The slice disappears quickly. "Damn… I'd forgotten just how good your food was."
Gus chuckled, running a hand through his fluffy hair. “Th-thank you.” He stuttered. “I have plenty more, If you want it.”
Saul grins. They realize something… "I haven't slept in…"
They pass out.
Gus gasped, already at Saul’s side in an instant as they attempted to take Saul back to the couch, though his days of laying around, waiting for him had done a number on his physique. He huffed, placing Saul on the soft material as he sat back and bit his lip anxiously
