Saul bursts out laughing.
"I- I am so sorry!" they say, getting a good grip on Gus and picking him up as they get up. They set him down gently on the floor.
Saul bursts out laughing.
"I- I am so sorry!" they say, getting a good grip on Gus and picking him up as they get up. They set him down gently on the floor.
Gus blushed even harder, folding his arms and looking down at the floor. "Oh, well, um… d-d-do you need anything then?" Gus stumbled out
Saul's laughter slowly fades, and they shake their head no.
"Nope… I'm good, for now." they say, settling back down.
Gus smiled softly, nodding as they plopped down on the couch and turned on the TV.
"So… do your people know where you are?" He asked timidly
"No, not yet at least. I didn't warn them I was leaving, and they never expected it. I have dropped off the grid." Saul says, sitting up slightly as soon as they see the news. Their expression turns pensive. It's the news, and there's apparantly been a string of murders.
Gus let out a sigh he didn't know he was holding, then followed Saul's gaze to the screen, listening as the story continued.
"Oh gods above…" He muttered, staring blankly before turning to Saul. "Do you think-"
"Definitely." Saul says shortly, getting up and walking into the batroom. Moments later, they walk back out, dressed in the black clothes they were in the night they showed up.
"I need to unvestigate further. Try to stop them. And if needed…" they say, their words trailing off, knowing full well that Gus knows what they're capable of. Or at least a little bit of it.
Gus swallowed hard, looking around at the apartment he barely kept up payments for. He didn't know what he would do if they came after him….
He watched Saul carefully, nodding as they spoke with flauntless air. "r-r-right…" Gus stammered, turning a bit pale
Saul knows what's going through Gus's mind, and they grin.
"Don't worry. I've paid everything for the next couple years," they say. "Unless you want to get out of this place. I'd have to put these wards up on any place we go to, but it should be worth it."
Gus's jaw dropped, his face turning an embarrassing shade of red as the words Saul spoke slowly set in. Paid??
He looked down at the ground, shaking his head softly. "I… I don't know what to… how to-" He simply looked up, a smile appearing across his soft lips. "Thank you.. and heavens no. I don't want you passing out anymore."
Saul laughs as Gus's face turns bright red, and runs one of their hands along the back of their neck.
"Don't need to." they say gruffly in response to his stammering.
They merely grin at Gus's words. "Don't thank me. And don't worry, all I'd need to do is a translator enchant, or transfer enchant. Pretty simple stuff."
Gus smiled, tilting his head at Saul's words. "Well… I guess if this place gets too crammed we might be able to leave." He muttered, plopping down once more on the couch just to see the news blaring again. "What are we going to do about… that?"
"Indeed." Saul grins.
They look at the news, their countenance darkening once more. "We will do nothing. I will go investigate, while you stay safe and hidden right here."
Gus started to protest, his hand glowing slightly as fear flashed in his eyes. "I can let you go by yourself! You took me for a reason!"
Saul kneels in front of Gus. "Augustus, I was wrong to take you. I had no right to do so. I can't stop you from coming, but I do not wish for you to get hurt."
Gus furrowed his brow, huffing as he attempted to stand his ground. "Then why were you so insistent on keeping me there? Why did you scare me so bad if I didn't matter?" He sighed, folding his soft arms. "I've done nothing my whole life. I want to change that."
Saul looks Gus in the eyes, willing him to see the truth. Unable to express what exactly was running through their mind.
"As I said, I cannot stop you. But as long as you are by my side, I will worry about harming you whilst trying to fight my own people." they murmur.
Gus settled down, staring at the floor as he nodded gently. "I… alright. I guess that does make sense." He muttered. "I'm sorry."
Saul smiles gently. "And besides, you can bake here. I can make no garuntees you'd be able to on the road."
They lift Gus's head gently with two fingers. "Hey, it's okay. I'll come back."
Gus smiled at the thought, sighing as he looked into Saul's eyes with his touch. "Please do."
(:0)
(Sorry!)
Saul leans in, and hesitates. They sigh, then get up. I can't. Not now.
"I'll be back. If I'm not home by… let's say, the end of the week, come after." they murmur, brushing some of Gus's curls out of his face.
(Its okay!! I just didn't know if you dropped out 😅)
Gus's expression saddened as he looked up again. The tall, eerie figure before him seemed so helpless, so distant in his eyes. "That's too long!! What if something happens!?"
(Not dropping out 'til the whole thing is said and done and we've run out of ideas!)
Saul smiles darkly. "Anything happens to me… well… I can't technically die. I can still be hurt. But necromancy and abjuration are powerful tools. I pity whoever tries, though, because they'd have both of us to deal with."
(Oh, sweet!! :D)
Gus sighed, pursing his lips. "You.. you can't die? N-necromancy?" He tenderly took Saul's hand, inspecting it. "Is that what you can do?"
