She nodded, understanding. At least somewhat since she didn't have the same experience. “I think I've heard about that. You know, if things in my life were… more stable, I’d be willing to adopt.” she admitted, blushing faintly.
Raven smiled faintly, nodding a little. "Exactly. A lot of people feel that way, but they just…don't have the time or money or ability to adopt, or the ones that do…well, they want younger kids. Cuter kids. The older you get, the less likely you are to be adopted."
Sophie winced a little at that. “I’ve… heard that too.” she said softly. “But it shouldn't be like that. I understand why people want younger kids, but the older ones need just as much guidance and love as any… Maybe even more so.” she added a bit more confidently.
Raven nodded again. "Yeah." she smiled faintly.
"It;s fine. It's not your fault."
“I know it's not but I still feel… bad.” she tried to explain. “I’m not trying to pity you because… well that's never been a welcome response to anything but… I don't know.” she sighed, stopping herself from rambling.
She laughed a little. "Don't worry about it."
Sophie gave a small awkward smile at her reassurance and nodded. “Ok.”
She smlied over at Sophie.
Sophie smiled softly back, a little embarrassed for bringing up that awkward topic. Though she was a little relieved that Raven didn't seem to mind.
Raven smiled again, hoping to reassure her.
Sophie sighed a little and smiled back, more calmly. Normally, she wasn't this nervous or awkward on a date.
Raven kept walking along.
Sophie walked with her, not sure what else to say or talk about at the moment.
Raven was still smiling a little.
Sophie sighed again, trying to relax. She wanted Raven to have a good time and being… obvious first date awkward didn't always help that. It wasn't her style anyway. Normally, she was outgoing, energetic, and sometimes a little loud. But she still tried not to be rude.
Raven smiled again, swinging their linked hands back and forth.
Sophie chuckled a little at the action before joining in.
She smiled, still swinging their hands.
Sophie smiled back, finally able to relax and get back to enjoying the date.
She hummed very faintly, still swinging.
Sophie's smile grew at the melody. “Do you sing a lot?” she asked, though she hated to interrupt.
"Yeah. Sorry for, ah, humming so much."
“Oh, no. Don't be sorry. I like hearing it.”
