She laughed a little. "Alright, makes sense."
She laughed a little. "Alright, makes sense."
Sophie smiled a little and nodded. "So, what kind of books do you like to read?" she asked, since it was something they had in common.
"Ah, anything and everything, really. What about you?"
"Just about the same." she nodded. "But I'm not a big fan of most horror. Suspense, I can handle. Even a good mystery but not horror."
"Yeah, that makes sense. I'm not a huge horror fan either."
Sophie nodded, smiling at their similar tastes. "Honestly, it's the same for movies too. Though there are a couple exceptions."
"What are the exceptions?" she asked.
"Well, there's a couple halloween movies that I actually enjoy and I saw a Jurassic movie once that was defiantly more of a horror than I was expecting but it wasn't bad overall." she explained.
She nodded a little. "The Jurassic Park movies are pretty good."
“Yeah, they are.” she agreed eagerly. “And the Jurassic World movies aren't bad either.”
"Yeah, they're pretty great too."
Sophie nodded, giving a half shrug. “It was Jurassic World 2 that was the surprise horror movie for me. Especially in the third act.” she explained.
"Right, yeah, that makes sense."
“Yeah.” she nodded again. “But I don't mind jump scares… At least in video games.” she chuckled.
"Oh, I can't stand horror games."
“That’s ok. I get they’re not for everyone.” she shrugged. “Honestly, I more prefer adventure-type games. … I think I might have told you about that.”
"Yeah, I think so." She smiled.
Sophie laughed softly and nodded. “Right. Uhh, what else can we talk about?”
"Mm…I'm not sure."
Sophie nodded with a soft hum. “Oh… Umm, you mentioned that you were in the foster system. Can I ask what your family was like?” she asked cautiously.
She let out a faint breath. "Which? My bio family or my foster families?"
“Whichever you feel more comfortable talking about.” she assured, not wanting to upset Raven.
"Right." she thought about it for a moment. "I don't know. Bio family was…not a great environment. I lived there until I was about…6? I think. Then I got in the foster care system and kind of just…moved families every year or two."
Sophie raised a brow slightly. “You… didn't get to settle down with one of them?” she asked gently.
"Not until I was about, ah, 13." she said slowly. "Too many foster kids, not enough people willing to adopt. A lot of us fall through the cracks."
