Florin checks the rifle. It’s good. Now, just to…
He looks up at Ellie, then glances back at his rifle. Then again, he repeats it for a second time, just looking in between the two.
Finally, Florin gives a response.
“Sure,” he says, albeit hesitantly. “Sure. I’ll.. we’ll go do that.” It’s not as though someone else could operate the weapon. Only Florin really could. The most use anyone else would get from it was just to study it, which he highly doubts that’ll happen as of now. Even if he is rather protective of it.
He flips it around, to carry it a little easier. Again, the numbers 6734 are visible on the rifle. Florin walks forwards, giving a small glance back behind him again.
Ellie noticed the numbers, the same that she had noticed on Florin when the first met. A part of her wanted to ask about what they meant, some part of her had an inkling but then again she could never be sure. She didn't ask, deciding it best not to.
She led him back into the house, making sure Florin was inside before she spoke again, "The gun doesn't leave the house, got it? Not unless I say so or in desperate need. Oh, and you can't wear whatever you were wearing when you arrived."
Florin blinked, looking down at her. “Why? Why can’t I wear what I was wearing before? The gun I can understand, but..”
Ellie crosses her eyes, tilting her head up to look him in the eyes, “For all that my co workers deal with this sort of crap, walking in in full armour immediately makes you a threat. Hell, security won’t even let you in. Look, this place has rules and regulations, and I’m pushing it by letting you wear the mask. If you walk in wearing full armour, you’ll probably be detained and questioned and we all know police aren’t going to understand the situation and you’ll be put in a mental institution.”
He stays silent for a small amount of time, taking in the words and thinking.
“Fine,” he says, exasperated. “I’ll abide by that.” It’s clear he doesn’t really want to, but in a foreign world..well, Florin doesn’t have the energy or time to deal with that. He’ll just need to find something else.
“Thank you,” She sighed, “There’s clothes in the wardrobe in your room, see if any of it fits. And try and make it look somewhat nice.”
Ellie shook her head a little as she headed upstairs to shower and change. Clearly this was going to be a lot harder then she originally thought.
Florin makes his way back to his room. It’s been a while since he’s actually worn..casual..wear, so it would probably feel odd to him.
Upon arrival, first order of things are to find something that suits him well. He’s sure he can still wear the boots, so hopefully pants that look good with boots. The colouring would hopefully be a darker shade of some colour or something. A shirt as well.
An idea pops into mind as he removes his bag he had picked up before. His jacket, inside of it. That would fit good. Although it wasn’t his per-say, it was given to him, and he couldn’t exactly give it back.
Florin turned around and shut the door to change.
Ellie sighed, heading to her room and quickly undressing, stepping into the shower. She never liked to shower long, opting to save water then anything else. It didn’t take long before she was out, drying her hair and placing it in a low bun and putting on a small amount of makeup.
She headed to her wardrobe, pulling out a white turtleneck shirt, long black dress pants with some black flats. She pulled on a long black coat before placing on her watch, necklace and other fine jewellery before walking out.
Ellie hoped Florin would wear something decent, not wanting to look like an idiot and walking in with someone who wasn’t well dressed.
Florin turned around a few times, checking if he was satisfied or not with what he currently wore. Once he was, he opened the door, stopping only to head back into the room and put on his boots.
He definitely looked a bit odd, without wearing all of the armour he had previously worn before. But he was alright in the jacket, and pants and everything else he had chosen. The jacket even had a hood to it.
Giving himself a slight nod, Florin headed downstairs.
Ellie was already downstairs when Florin came down, glancing between her phone and the files laid out on the countertop.
When she heard him, she looked up and looked him over, checking what he was wearing was decent. She gave him a nod, “That’s suitable.” She said, slipping her phone into her pocket and grabbing the files, placing them in her bag and taking out her keys.
Florin side-glanced a second or two to his left as he came down. “It’s been a while since I’ve worn..casual, so I tried.”
He arrived onto the floor with her and looked at her keys. “How long is the drive?”
“A half hour maybe?” Ellie shrugged, switching off the lights, “Come on, let’s get going.”
She headed to the door, making sure Florin was out before she locked the door, unlocking her car remotely a moment later.
Florin seemed to falter for a moment. “Half an hour?” He muttered to himself.
He wasn’t sure why the concept seemed so odd to him. He could handle it, after all. He’d waited longer.
He made his way over to the car.
Ellie followed shortly after, climbing into the car as soon as she arrived. She placed her sun glasses on, waiting until Florin was in the car before she started it up.
Florin entered the car, looking around it in curiosity as he entered. He made note of everything he could see in the car. Habit, after all.
He sat in the seat, taking a moment to get into a comfortable position.
“Buckle up.” Ellie modded to his seatbelt as she put hers on, backing out of the driveway a second later.
There was no way in hell she was going to let him die in a car crash before they figured this shit out.
“Oh. Right.”
Florin put his seatbelt on. Honestly, it had been a while since he used one of them. No wonder he didn’t remember at first.
He glances out the window.
Since Ellie lived pretty deep in the woods, most of the outside scenery was untouched woodland. All bright green from the trees and bushes, deep rich brown soil. It was clear why someone would want to live out here, it was very beautiful.
Florin observed the surroundings. Without looking away from the window, he spoke. “Nice place out here. Almost reminds me of Sedori, when I visited.”
"Sedori… Can you tell me about it?" She asked, glancing sideways at him for a moment before focusing her attention back on the road.
“The island, or the country?” Florin questions. He could easily do both.
"Both, both is good." Ellie replied, nodding slightly.
“Right..where do I start.” Florin sighed.
“Sedori is an old country. I’m pretty sure they’re like 5000 years old or something. Pretty sure that’s old for a country to have existed for so long.” He started. “In those thousands of years of history, Sedori has never lost a war, nor has it surrendered. Its people hold true to its cause of ‘never surrender’, so much that everyone who fights for them carries a cyanide pill just in case.”
“Besides that, not much is known about them. They do trade with their allies, but everything else is covered up. No one really knows what their leader looks like, either. They’ve got a pretty strong military as well. And they’re a healthy country from what I’ve heard.”
Florin closed his eyes, still facing the window. “I’ve been to the island, once. During the war. You don’t have to worry about wildlife, you have to worry about Sedorian forces.” Florin moves his left hand towards the covered scar by his ribs. His voice lowered as he went on. “The air is clean there. Not a lot of smog or anything like that. Surrounding the island, there’s a lot of small islands. Not really islands, though. More like big rocks, jutting from the ocean. Hazardous.”
He opened his eyes again, almost seeming like he was meaning to say something, but bit back on it.
Ellie listened, intrigued and wanting to know more about the history, the people, the culture, everything, "And, what about where you're from, can you tell me about there?"
Florin crossed his arms. “I was,” he started, “originally born in Switzerland. I didn’t spend much time there though. I mostly stayed in Europe the entire time.”
“I don’t exactly remember a lot of my childhood, and that does include my surroundings. There were plenty of people. I remember the weather, and it being generally nice.” It’s clear Florin is scraping the bottom of the barrel here, trying to think of things to say. “I was an only child, so I never had any siblings for the time I was with my family.”
