"huh..?" He echoed back halfheartedly.

“What’s wrong?” he questioned carefully.

"It.. I don't know, it. Made me think about my wife, oddly," he murmured.

“Oh…” George swallowed, urging his horse closer to Bailey’s. “I’m sorry..”

"No need to be." He breathed.

He studied his lover's expression closely, wishing he knew what to say.

Bailey looked wistful, absent. This happened a lot when he thiught of the dismal past. He just needed a distraction.

“Tell me about your new job,” George promoted, attempting to draw Bailey from his sorrowful thoughts.

"Well," he inhaled the bitter cold air, "It's pretty relaxed,"

“And..?” he prompted, trying to coax the other man into talking more.

"I don't know." He replied quietly.

"I'm just thinking," she replied in a bit of a sigh. "You two have been friends for a long time…"

"Nothing, nevermind," she shook her head, "I'm just worried for him, is all,"

"I told him about my being a spy, and he got rather upset," he told her quietly.

"Yeah..?" She whispered.

"He didn't want the same thing to happen to me that happened to (OTHER GUY) and his family."

"Oh.. makes sense.." she murmured.
