"Ah.." he had to take a second or two to collect himself, "I'm… Good. Great," a weak smile crossed his freckled face.

"I'm glad," he smiled warmly, straightening his back.
Bailey stood up from the chair, "Would you want to meet the tailor I'll be working for?"
"Of course." George's smile grew a little brighter. "Now?"
"If you're up for it," Bailey replied with his smile.
George nodded, taking a few steps towards the door.
Bailey followed at a relaxed pace, in a light limp. Being a veteran of war, his body would still ache and groan from all the beatings received in that short span of time. As for his hard of hearing, it was easy to get used to the influx of volume.
Ooo, i got an ideaaa
Its a surprise tho)"I can't sleep," he laughed. "Can I get you anything..?"
(Oh no… I'm scared! XD)
"I'm fine," she replied, gently rubbing his arms.
John shifted to lie back down. He had to speak with a fellow lieutenant tomorrow; a new recruit needing John's guidance. But to his wife's oblivion, he'd check in on Murielle. He wasn't heartless.
Jane adjusted with him, letting out a soft whimper of pain as she slipped back beneath the sheets.
Skip?
Sure!
~~~
John knocked quietly on Murielle's door.
The woman walked over and opened it slowly. A look of pure shock crossed her face. "John? What are you doing here?"
"Checking on you," He answered quietly, messing with his sleeve cuffs. "It'd be cruel of me to abandon a pregnant woman, especially when… when it's my fault," he murmured.
Mirelle looked away, ashamed. "I'm sorry… It's my fault…"
"Nevermind that, just. How are you doing? What do you need?" John spoke, "How are your finances?"
"I'm fine," she said quietly. "Everything's… mostly alright."
"…and… yourself, emotionally?" He asked gently.
Her eyes blinked and looked up at him. "I'm not sure."
John shuffled forward to embrace her.
Mirelle was surprised, but she found herself enjoying it.
"I don't know what to do," he confessed, "All of this…"
"Me neither. Did I upset you with my letter?" she asked worriedly.
"No, no, not at all. I'm just… juggling the lot of this." He murmured.
