“Turn left at the intersection, then go straight,” Daisy said, turning away from him again.
“Turn left at the intersection, then go straight,” Daisy said, turning away from him again.
Arvil hummed, doing as she asked. He turned left and then straight, fingers drumming on the steering wheel.
“It’s on the right,” Daisy said, pointing up to the ice cream parlor up ahead.
Arvil drove over to the parking lot and parked his car somewhat near the ice cream parlor. He killed the engine, took off his seatbelt and looked at Daisy. “Well, here we are.”
Daisy hummed and unbuckled herself. “Here we are, indeed,” she said, giving him a curious look. “Was there something you wanted, or can we go inside?”
“No, there isn’t,” Arvil chuckled, brushing his hand over her cheek. “Now c’mon, let’s go get ice cream.”
He didn’t wait for her response as he opened the car door and stepped out, shutting it behind him.
Daisy blinked at the place where he’d been, her cheek tingling from his touch. She sighed and shook her head before getting out of the car and walking over to his side. “Any idea what kind of ice cream you’ll want?” she asked as they walked up to the doors.
Arvil stuffed his hands into his pockets, bumping their shoulders together as they walked. “I’m thinking of getting mint chocolate chip. What about you?”
“Have you ever heard the Superman flavor? It’s kinda blue and yellow or something,” Daisy said with a shrug. “Otherwise, maybe birthday cake.”
“There’s a superman flavor?” Arvil blinked at her, surprised. They entered the shop, where they immediately stood in line. “I’ve never had that before.”
“I don’t know what the flavors technically are? But it’s pretty good,” Daisy said with a shrug.
“If you say so,” Arvil hummed as he waited for their turn. When it was, he relayed his order before looking at Daisy.
Daisy ordered the birthday cake ice cream instead of the Superman flavor, then walked with Arvil to pick them up. “Do you want to sit down in here or outside? Or go somewhere else?”
Arvil grabbed his ice cream, looking over at his fiancée. “Whichever you prefer,” he shrugged. “You know I’m okay with wherever.”
“That’s not helpful… It’s up to you. Don’t make me choose. I can’t make decisions,” Daisy declared with a sigh, half joking.
Arvil laughed, bumping their heads together playfully. “And you know I’ll be okay with whatever you choose,” he grabbed their ice creams, passing Daisy her own. “We could sit outside, I guess. Fresh air sounds nice.”
“It does, yeah. Good choice,” Daisy chuckled softly, taking a spoonful of her ice cream as they walked.
Arvil hummed as he took a spoonful, opening the door for Daisy with the spoon hanging from his mouth. When she was out, he followed after her, taking the spoon out from his mouth. “C’mon, let’s sit on that bench.”
Daisy nodded and walked over. “Sure,” she hummed, sitting down and taking another bite of her ice cream. “It’s nice out today.”
“Sure is,” Arvil agreed, taking a bite out of his ice cream. “You want a taste, Daisy?”
“You got the mint chocolate chip?” Daisy asked, looking up at him from her own ice cream.
“I did,” Arvil hummed. “You don’t like it? It’s pretty good.”
Daisy shrugged, her nose scrunching up slightly. “No, I don’t really care for it. Not a big mint fan.”
Arvil stared at her for a second. “Then what sort of toothbrush do you use…? And what flavor chewing gum…?”
“I still use mint toothpaste, but that doesn’t mean I want to eat it,” Daisy said, giving him an amused smile. “And I chew fruity gum. Or cinnamon.”
