Arvil scrunched his face, releasing a puff of air as his eyes blinked open. He shifted, blurry eyes opening to meet Daisy’s. “Hm?”
Arvil scrunched his face, releasing a puff of air as his eyes blinked open. He shifted, blurry eyes opening to meet Daisy’s. “Hm?”
“Good morning, sunshine. There’s apparently an important meeting that you are needed for,” Daisy said, raising her eyebrows at him. “You should probably attend that.”
Arvil blinked at her before he groaned, closing his eyes again. “Damn it,” he rasped out, pushing himself back into a sitting position, feet on the ground. He ran a hand through his hair, sighing. “No peace of mind, huh?”
“No, it would seem not,” Daisy agreed, collecting her things before standing. She blinked down at him, tilting her head curiously. “So I guess I’ll see you either on our next date or next week for lunch?”
“Yeah,” Arvil pressed his face in his hand, voice hoarse from sleep. God, he was going to go crazy. What did they need him for now? He probably should have listened to his father and got a trusted VP. And the only man who could work well with that position refused it. Thrice. “Next date. Pick you up on Saturday? Eight PM.”
Daisy hated how much she liked his voice this way, low and raspy from sleep. No. No, she didn’t hate it. She actually loved the way it made her feel, the little shivers it sent down her spine. No matter that it was with a man who didn’t love her; it was still a good feeling.
“Sounds good. I’ll see you then,” she said softly, giving him a small smile and a nod before making her way to the door.
Goddamn it. He missed her hand in his hair the second she left. He missed the warmth and peace that he felt laying on her lap. He wanted to do it again. He probably wouldn’t get the chance again.
Sighing, Arvil picked himself to his feet and made his way out of his office and to the conference room.
As soon as Daisy was at her car, she leaned back against it, closing her eyes. Gosh dang it… What had she done? Now she couldn’t get the feeling of his hair between her fingers out of her mind. She so wanted to be able to do that again, but there probably wouldn’t be a chance to do so.
“Gosh dang it,” she hissed under her breath as she slid into her seat.
[TIME SKIP: SATURDAY]
“We’re going to watch a movie,” Arvil declared as soon as he parked the car in front of the cinema. He had put on a black shirt with a red button-up shirt on top, and left that unbuttoned. He’d topped it with jeans and white shoes. Really, Arvil’s like for such clothing was insane. Other than hoodies and jackets, Arvil didn’t try out anything else.
And now here they were, on their date. Which Arvil was looking forward to. Because it was fun—spending time with Daisy was fun.
Daisy had dressed rather simply, as well. She knew she didn’t really have to try to impress him, and he’d already seen her in her pajamas, anyway. So she had simply worn a button-up black dress with a thin black belt looped around her waist and a pair of black flats to tie it all together.
“What are we seeing?” she asked as she opened her door to step out.
“Well, that’s a very good question,” Arvil hummed as he waited for her to join him. “Have you seen the Aladdin movie that came out? I figured you’d like that.”
Daisy shook her head and closed the door behind herself. “No, I haven’t. It looked good, though. I would watch it.”
“Haven’t watched it, either,” Arvil held out a hand for her to take. “Wasn’t really going to, either, but hey. For you, I would.”
Daisy rolled her eyes good-naturedly and took his hand, stepping closer to his side. “Well, thanks, I guess. You’re sacrificing your day to spend time with a fake fiancée slash friend at a movie you don’t actually want to see…”
Arvil intertwined their fingers, finding warmth in her hold. How was it that her hand always seemed to fit in his? It was stupid to think that, but he had began to wonder if their hands were meant to fit. “I’d rather be with you than the office,” Arvil scrunched his nose. “Besides, I could always sleep on you.”
“Oh, stop. You are such an incessant flirt. Is that just in your nature or something?” Daisy asked, looking up at him with a small, some what teasing, smirk.
Arvil shot her a smirk, tugging her to the entrance. “Well, it is,” he paused before winking at her. “But flirting with you has become my favorite thing to do.”
Daisy rolled her eyes and glanced away again, her cheeks turning pink again. “All right, all right… Do you want to get the tickets while I get the snacks?”
“I’ve already bought the tickets,” Arvil chuckled. “Online. We simply need to get the snacks.”
“Oh. Well, that was smart. You reserved seats, then? Which row?” Daisy asked as they stepped past the ticket lines to the snack counter. A flash to her right drew her attention, and she sighed. “So… Apparently, we were followed…”
Arvil sighed. “You get used to it. Mind if I kissed you?” he muttered under his breath. “And I reserved the top seats. J section. Twelve and thirteen.”
Daisy blinked once, surprised as she looked back up at him. “Oh. Yeah, sure. That would probably get them off our tails,” she murmured, chewing on her lip.
Arvil smiled down at her affectionately, something he didn’t even need to fake, and reached out to cradle her face in his hands. God, she was just so beautiful… His thumbs brushed against her cheeks, eyes raking in everything before he finally leaned in, pressing their lips together softly.
Daisy watched him as he slowly led up to the kiss. When his lips finally met hers, she had so much anticipation built up that the soft touch surprised her more than a hard one would have. And stars did she like it like that… Had he ever kissed her softly like this? She didn’t even have words for how it felt other than gosh…
Arvil kissed her gently, and God, did he like it. Kissing her heatedly, full of desperation quenched a little of his thirst, but this… having her lips mold into his perfectly, being able to taste her properly… it was driving him insane, and he never wanted to stop.
He had to thank the reporters for something. He had been desperate to kiss her, after all.
