When the food was reheated, Arvil returned to the room, but not before passing a glass window and noting his appearance. Swollen lips, messy hair, wrinkled shirt. Arvil chuckled, shaking his head and entered his office without bothering to fix anything up.

“And here’s our lunch,” he set the food on the table, taking a seat next to Daisy. “You didn’t tell me my appearance had needed some fixing, love.”

Daisy glanced up and blushed as she looked at him. Dang it, why did he have to look so hot like that? And she had done that to him… Oh, her cheeks were definitely warm now…

“I, uh, didn’t realize it did,” she said, blinking up at him. She reached over to straighten his shirt, then ran her fingers through his hair a few times to tame it, not even thinking how he might react.

Arvil froze at her actions. Her hands on his chest, fixing his shirt and then running through his hair… so close… Did she realize what effect she was having on him? Her vanilla scent filled his nostrils, clouding his better judgment and for a brief second, Arvil almost snapped. In the end, he controlled himself. He couldn't get like this every time she got close beyond words.

Behave, Davis… Behave…

He exhaled through his nose deeply. "Not that I was complaining, of course," he murmured somewhat breathlessly, keeping his eyes on her face. "It lets everyone know that I'm off limits."

Daisy hummed, standing on her tiptoes to fix his hair better. She ran her fingers through it one last time — though it wasn’t exactly necessary… She just wanted to touch his soft hair — and then backed away again. One look at his face showed her his slightly dilated eyes and how he avoided looking at her, and she blushed deeper when she realized what she’d been doing.

“Crap… I’m sorry, Arvil, I didn’t think—“ he stuttered, taking another step back and glancing away in embarrassment.

Arvil cleared his throat, running a hand through his hair. “No, it’s fine,” he muttered, pretending as if he wasn’t bothered. He blinked and the desire vanished from his eyes. “Thank you for this, though, darling.”

“Aren’t you so distracting,” Arvil teased, chuckling as he unwrapped his shawarma and took a bite. “And adorable.”

“I would have thought you were done with flirting for today after what happened just now,” Daisy murmured, biting her lip to keep from smirking or smiling.

Arvil shot her a smirk. “Me? Done flirting with you? Daisy, how could you even think I could ever stop flirting with you?”

Deleted user

“If I do, would you mind?” Arvil quirked an eyebrow, taking a bite. “Would you be jealous?”

Deleted user

Of course not. And of course you'd say that, Arvil thought to himself, but didn't voice it aloud. He merely winked at her.

"Don't worry, love," he took another bite out of his shawarma, chewing a little before continuing. "I only flirt with you~ You're the only woman I've flirted this much with."

And God, you might be the only one if my feelings continue to grow."

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy blinked, a slight blush rising to her cheeks. “Oh. Okay, then. Well, uh, thanks, I guess?” she murmured with a shrug before going back to her food.

I can’t be the only one you flirt with… You don’t— don’t really like me that way… Do you…?

Deleted user

"Why would I flirt with another woman when I'm engaged to be married?" Arvil continued, quirking an eyebrow, hoping that made her more unaware of his growing feelings. He couldn't let her know lest she called off the marriage. "Don't you think that would jeopardize everything?"

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Oh. Of course…

“Oh, yeah. Definitely,” Daisy murmured around a bite of food, then took a sip of her water. Of course he didn’t like her that way. What was she thinking?

Deleted user

Why did she sound so disappointed? Did she want him to like her? Did she like him? Arvil didn’t think so. Even when she said she felt hurt by his refusal to flirt and touch her, even when she had cried because of it, even if she had practically begged him to kiss her, Arvil just couldn’t think that. His own feelings were clouding his better judgement.

Arvil hummed, but he offered no response to that statement. Instead, he let the mischief dance in his eyes again. “So, Darling, may I use your lap as a pillow once we’re done eating? I’m rather tired.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy rolled her eyes, though a slight pink hue lifted to her cheeks again. “I have to leave after this, remember? But I guess you can if you finish your food first,” she said with a shrug, taking another bite of food. “You seem to enjoy doing that, love.”

Deleted user

Arvil chuckled, taking a bigger bite of his food. “Of course, I do,” he replied once there was enough space to talk. “Your lap is soft. I laid there once and for a few seconds, but I’m addicted to it. Then again, I happen to get addicted by all of you.” That, he ended with a flirty wink. He meant all of it, but she didn’t need to know that.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“I’ve noticed,” Daisy murmured, her blush deepening. “I am quite addicting. You know, with all the sass and backtalk. People just love that, don’t they?”

Deleted user

“My reasons for liking you go beyond the sass and backtalk, Daisy,” Arvil responded seriously, taking a sip of his water. “Ah, eat slower than me. I can’t have you finish before me.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“Eat faster. It’s a race, now,” Daisy chuckled. She blatantly ignored the statement of his liking her, choosing to believe it was a joke. Just like everything else was with him.

“What? No,” Arvil immediately took another large bite, but making sure to do it without making a mess. He swallowed that bite after chewing, ignoring how she paid no attention to his statement. “That wasn’t the deal.”
