Even though he has plenty of hard food in his dish…. Lee sighed. “He always has a good reason. He’s too good of a dog to ignore.” He dried his hands off with a towel and hung it back up.
Even though he has plenty of hard food in his dish…. Lee sighed. “He always has a good reason. He’s too good of a dog to ignore.” He dried his hands off with a towel and hung it back up.
Silver grinned, "Exactly what I meant" he said, leaning on the counter.
“I’m sure it was…” Lee finished up cooking the soup and pulled it off the stove with mitts. “Everything’s all ready to go….” He set it on the table where two places were set for the two of them, placed across from one another. Max was already laying below the table, waiting for them to sit down. Oh, you silly mutt….
Silver followed him, "It smells good to me" he said, realizing just how hungry he was.
"I'm sure it does," Lee said, sitting down. "I can hardly wait to eat any day. Don't ask why… Maybe it's my knack for food. But that's just me."
"What can we say, food is good!" Said Silver, looking up at Lee. "And thanks again for saving me from the heat"
"Aw… Well," Lee began, shrugging, "I'm just trying to be a good person, Silverado, sir," He said politely as he took the ladel for the soup. "Although I may be someone that people look down upon, I'd never watch someone else suffer if I can help it."
Silver smiled, "Please, just call me Silver" he said, "And lose the "sir". I'm not a nobleman,"
"Sorry…" Lee said softly, serving himself. "I'm just trying to show some respect…" Even if others don't to me…
"Well it's respect I don't need" said Silver, "In my eyes respect is making sure to recognize someone else's abilities and achievements, no matter how small. It has nothing to do with social stature."
Lee stayed quiet. I tried…. He went on and ate anyways, glancing at Silver every five minutes or so.
Silver ate too, enjoying every bit. "You're a good cook" he said, between bites.
"Well, thanks," Lee said respectively. "I mean… It isn't much, but it gets me through the day." And through all the work I do every day…
"You might be even better than me" Said Silver, smiling warmly.
Lee stopped and raised his brow. "Well how good are you in the first place?" He should know at least the basics…
"Fairly decent," said Silver, "To be completely honest I've never really had someone to compare to"
"That's fair…" Lee nodded. "But now you do," He gestured widely to himself. "And… I don't really want to discourage you, but…. How do you think you'd do against me in.. Say one of those cooking competitions." He shrugged.
"I think we'd be fairly even" said Silver,
“….Well what kind of stuff do you make?” Lee stirred his soup a little bit. “I mean, I’m some kind of universal person… I can cook and bake practically anything — as long as I have a recipe for it.” I’m not as crazy as to memorize things like those….
"Stew, soups, sandwhiches, bread, roasts…." Silver thought about it, "And a few other things…. and I can do it in the middle of nowhere too…"
“Wait — You mean you can cook wherever you want???” Lee gasped. “I mean — if that’s what you mean when you say “in the middle of nowhere”….”
"In the middle of nowhere, assuming I have firewood, and a flint, and something to cook." said Silver confidently, "It's not actually that hard."
"Hm…" Lee hummed, furrowing his brow. "Maybe you can teach me one day…" He ate the rest of his soup and took a sip of his water.
Silver nodded, "of course I can show you," he said,
"But not right now, of course, we're in the middle of lunch…" Lee said softly. "Although I am intrigued as to how you cook in the middle of nowhere." Maybe I'm overthinking this kind of thing…
"Same as you would cook in a kitchen!" laughed Silver, "You just need to be a little more resourceful!"
Lee chuckled, smiling sheepishly. "You see, that's the problem… I'm not too keen on being too resourceful…"
"Being resourceful isn't too hard" said Silver
"I've just never tried it, that's all…." He stood up from his seat and grabbed his bowl. "It's been so long since I've tried something new since I'm so busy doing what I need to do to stay afloat…"
"Well there's always rime to try new things at some point."
