“That’s great! You know, I’ve never even been to Japan?” Her tone wasn’t laced with the usual sarcasm that she normally had when she was acting surprised. She really was interested, and she really did want to know more. “Do you remember what it’s like?”
(Alright, so I've never actually been to Japan. Pretend everything I write about Japan is true. Note to all peeps who are from Japan - please don't be offended, I'm just not sure I want to do a bunch of research just for one rp)
(Ok cool idk much about it either so I probably wouldn’t notice anything that’s wrong anyway lol)
"Yeah! Although the students are expected to be the janitors of the schools, we honestly have a lot of fun! We usually end up having a jam singing random songs," Saori beamed.
“Really? You know how to sing?” She tapped her calloused fingers against the seat. “Are you okay with doing it in front of other people?”
Her smile faded a bit. "I'm not going to sing on the bus, if that's what you're getting at."
“Well, no that’s not what I’m getting at,” she smiled. “I play guitar, but I don’t think I have the right voice for the songs I’m trying to make.”
"Oh, is that so? We could enter the talent show together!" Saori blurted out before she could stop herself. "I mean, if you want to, of course."
She held her hand up. “I wouldn’t go as far as to say talent show, but we could definitely practice together. Maybe if it’s good we could try the talent show.”
"Cool, sorry if I came off as a little much… I'm not used to socializing much, as you probably could tell," she cast her eyes downward.
“Not a problem, I don’t do it much either. Although I’m assuming that you’re a bit nervous, which isn’t my problem. I just typically don’t like talking, but I’m not shy.” She shifted in her seat a bit, putting her knees up on the seat in front of her. “So maybe we could practice together sometime. See how good we are?”
"Sure, that sounds good!" Saori replied. As the bus slowed to a stop in front of a pale blue house with a darker shade of blue on the door, she jumped up. "This is our stop!" And she walked out the door and waited for Gwen.
Gwen lazily flopped down the stairs and looked around. “Oh, I didn’t realize how close your house was to mine. I live two neighborhoods down on the right.”
She turned and walked down the driveway backwards. “So, you got any pets?”
"Oh, that's cool!" she remarked. Following Gwen down the driveway, she responded, "I wish. My mom's allergic, so… anyways what about you? You got any?" When they reached the door she pulled out a key from her pocket and unlocked the door, opening it to let them inside. "Don't worry, my mom doesn't get home for a while," she assured Gwen, just in case.
"I've got a gerbil, nothing else." Saori's last remark made one of her eyebrows arch. Why was Saori worried about that? "Okay," she replied a bit sarcastically. "Not that I really care. Does she work or something?"
"Yeah, you might get overwhelmed by her when she gets back," Saori smiled sheepishly. "She asks a ton of questions."
She nodded once. "Ah, I get it. Honestly though, I don't really mind the questions." She cursed herself silently. Here she went again, making assumptions about people making assumptions about her. She always backed out of situations like this before she even got this far, so she had a slight victory, but she still felt bad.
"Really? A lot of people usually don't like them…" Saori replied.
“It’s fine, really,” she said as she made her way up the porch steps to the door. “Like I said I’m not exactly shy.”
"Alright then," Saori walked inside. "Come on in, then."
She ducked through the door and looked around as her eyes adjusted to the light. They had gone through the garage, so at the moment they were in a hallway. “So,” she turned to Saori. “Where to?”
"Wanna head upstairs to my room?" she asked.
She shrugged as if to say “Sure.” Then she looked around. “You want me to leave my backpack down here or?”
"Uh, either way is fine. It's up this way," she headed towards a flight of stairs and looked back.
