“Hah! Isn’t he? I had to wake him up, so he’s probably still pretty sleepy.
Sam crawled across her lap to investigate the thee side of the couch.
Ro watched the little animal scuttle around with a light smile "Where are you going fuzzy little thing, hm?" She glanced up at matt and grinned "the little guy is curious isn't he?"
“Oh, absolutely.” Matt stood up again, “Can you watch him for a minute? I’m gonna go get his ball.”
Ro nodded "Yeah, of course." She picked up the hamster, careful not to scare it and rubbed her thumb along his head lightly "you wouldn't hurt a fly, now would you?" she asked with a smile
Sam nestled into her hand, seeming quite comfortable and secure.
Matt walked back into the living room with the green translucent ball, “Okay, ya ready, buddy?”
"No, no you wouldn't." she said adoringly, placing him gently in her lap
"I might have put him to sleep…" Ro said, glancing up at Matt with apologetic eyes as he came back with the ball. "Hey, wake up sleepy head." she nudged the hamster with a gently finger
Matt laughed, “He was sleepy then,” he reached out the ball for Ro to put him in.
Sam lifted his head, blinking his eyes open sleepily.
She smiled and too the bll from him "come on little guy, sleep is for the lazy." she encouraged gently.
Sam woke up a little and sniffed the ball, and after thinking for a moment her crawled inside.
Ro set the ball down on the ground "they're aren't any stairs nearby that he call down from, are they?" She asked, glancing up at Matt
Matt shook his head, “I have a basement, but the door to the stairs are closed.”
She nodded "creepy…I've always hated basements and atics, there's always something off about them that messes with my iner self." she sighed "sorry, I probably sound like a 90's hippie, talking about our inner selves and such…" she tucked her hair behind her ear in a nervous gesture and focused on Sam
“Nah, it’s alright.” He dismissed, “I understand. I don’t use the basement much, myself. Just for storage mostly. It’s hard to travel up and down with one leg and all.” He forced a chuckle.
"true," she smiled softly, glad that he didn't make fun of her "so any other things you like?"
“Um..” he lifted a hand to rush through his hair, “I don’t know, not that I can think of right now. Guaranteed I’ll remember when the time is inappropriate, but..” he laughed, “Not that I can think of.”
She watch as Matt ran a hand through his hair, thinking it amazing that he could do it so easily. If she tried, her fingers would get stuck halfway through and she'd have to comb put the knot. "It usually does. At the worst time possible too." She glanced down as Sam bumped into her leg "back again little friend?"
Sam blinked up at her, leaning against the side of his ball.
“Ah, I don’t know if I’ve told you this before or not, but I’m an editor for magazine articles.” He took a seat back beside her, “It’s a pretty low stress job.
She focused back up at Matt "what do you edit for? Garden magazines? Fashion magazines?" She asked, tilting her head
“Mostly graphic arts and photography magazines.” He replied, “One of them’s Big Picture. Have you heard of it?”
"I must admit I haven't. And that must be amazing, seeing the world through a camera lenses instead of your own eyes."
“Yeah..” he nodded, “It’s cool. I’ll have to show you one sometime—if you want.”
She nodded "I look forward to it." She glanced down at her watch "shoot, I forgot about something at home." She stood and gathered her things "thank for this, and I'm so sorry to leave so soon." She apologiesed
“Ah, no problem.” He dismissed, shoving down his disappointment, “Should we meet again tomorrow? I hope so…?” He stood up, leaning on his crutch.
She nodded "if you'd have me, then yes I'd love to come over again." She pulled her hair back and nodded her thanks "maybe I'll bring you a little something."
Matt’s grin widened, “You don’t have to, but I would appreciate it. Thank you for coming over. I had a good time.”
