(But like realistically if you were in a life or death situation wouldn't you do the same?? I call this me trying to make excuses)
"Oh oh!" The younger girl stepped forward, clearly excited about something, "You two are the ones going to fulfill the prophecy!" She grinned.
((Honestly yeahhhh lol I will allow you to make the excuse because I’m also failing at the slow burn))
Aidan kinda blinked slowly, as if trying to process the words before simply saying, “what?” He looked like he might pass out.
"Yes! You Aidan are going to be the one who saves us and Lachlan here if going to help you! It's your destiny." She clasped her hands together, bouncing on her heels, "Oh we've been waiting for this for months, we just had to wait until you two knew each other at least a little."
He looked at Lachy like ‘please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks that’s insane.’ “There’s no way. Absolutely NO way!”
Lachy looked from the girl, to Aidan then back to the girl, frowning, "How do know?"
"Bella here, is like you," The man said, "With the help of some of the people back at camp, she receives visions. One of them was about you two."
"And they're pretty much always right so we knew you guys had to be the people we were looking for." Bella added.
"This is crazy. I think you're insane."
Aidan nodded. “Yeah I actually agree with him on that one. We’re no different from anyone else at the Facility. There’s no way we’re part of some ancient prophecy.”
“But you are,” Bella stressed, “I’ve seen it! And my friends who are auras and visionaries say the same thing! Aidan you’re extremely powerful, and Lacey you have multiple abilities that, even though they take more energy to use and you can’t use them all that often, you’re able to help Aidan on his mission.”
Aidan looked back at Lachy, less unsure than he had been a moment ago. He didn’t know what to believe. This still all seemed so crazy but it certainly explained a few things. Like how Lachy had caught his eye right from the start.
The man sighed, "We'll explain more on the way. However I'm Gareth, obviously that's Bella and that's Sasha," He pointed to the other woman, "Sasha and I are two of the main leaders in this rebellion, so you'll be working closely with us and our team."
“Okay..it’s nice to meet you all.” Now that all his questions had been answered, he could drop his whole angry aggressive bitchy act. He visibly got less tense too. He was now pretty much completely sure that this wasn’t a trap.
"You as well," Gareth offered a smile, "Right, let's keep moving. We'll stop at nightfall to make camp." He nodded to the two teens, turning on his heel to keep walking.
Aidan looked down at Lachy, mouthing out a quick ‘you okay?’ That had been a lot of information to process at once, especially that they were both supposedly part of the prophecy.
((I feel like…..Aidan’s gonna be so determined to not fall in love with Lachy for like awhile because of all the stuff in the past with his mom. And he’s just going to very suddenly be distant oof))
(Nuu :( jokes on him though since they'll fall in love.. eventually)
Lachy nodded quickly, maybe a little too quickly for it to be convincing. This was so insane. All of it. And quite frankly a little overwhelming. He sighed, giving Aidan a look that conveyed the same question.
((Yep lol))
He didn’t really believe Lachy’s answer but didn’t have time to think about it before Lachy asked him the same question. He hesitated for a second before merely shrugging, that was the closest he could get to describing his feelings.
((Hello?? You good broski?))
(Sorry, had a bit of a bad day)
He sighed, looking back to the path ahead. They walked for the rest of the day. Only stopping once or twice for a drink break and something small to eat. Night fell pretty quickly and Gareth decided now was a good time to set up camp. They found a small cave system, setting down their supplies and starting a fire.
((Damn sorry to hear that))
Aidan was pretty much exhausted. It’s not like they could really exercise that much when they were at the Facility, so even just a little bit of physical activity was strenuous. But Aidan would continue to stay close to Lachy. He didn’t really trust these people yet. Also, having Lachy close to him soothed him, and just felt right.
Physical activity wasn't something Lachy was great at. He always said it was because he was too weak which was party true but also because he hated moving unless necessary. When they got to the cave he sat down, maybe a little further away from the fire then he should but he didn't care, too tired to do so.
Aidan wasn’t clinging to him but he was definitely trailing very close behind him like an obedient dog. He yawned widely. “So fuckin’ tired…” he mumbled. He sat down next to Lachy, absentmindedly leaning his head on his shoulder.
Lachy sighed softly, patting Aidan on the leg, "Me too. You should rest Mr Hero of the entire world." He replied quietly, the tiniest hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
He let out a long sigh. “Don’t make me think about that Mr side kick to the hero of the entire world, the idea of that stresses me out.” He replied, unable to repress the small smile that also appeared on his own face.
He giggled softly, nudging the other gently, "Don't think about it then. Just go to sleep. I don't think the adults are really gonna care if we have at last a couple hours."
“You should rest up too. I have a feeling we’re gonna need it.” He shifted closer to Lachy, yawning again. Aidan had a pretty high body temperature, I guess from his fire powers and stuff, so even though they were far from the fire, they’d both be warm.
For the first time since Lachy had found out about Aidan's powers, he was actually glad of them. Only because the warmth the other gave off was enough to fight off the chill of the wind. He closed his eyes, leaning against Aidan.
