He blinked, eyes widened as he immedietly scanned Aidan for any signs of bullet wounds, "You didn't- they didn't shoot you? You're okay?" He asked quickly, scooting a little closer.

“Nope. I set my whole body on fire. All the bullets melted before they could hit me.” He reassured him before pulling him into a hug. “That was really scary….” he whispered, he was shaking a bit.

Lachy gladly accepted the hug, holding onto Aidan tightly as if he was going to be dragged away from him again, "No shit.. you could have died…" He'd caught a glance at the wreckage outside and wondered how many had died, "We have to get out of here.."

“Yeah….Sterling’s making us clean it all up too.” But he didn’t seem ready to move just yet. “They killed…so many of us. And acted like it was nothing.” He hugged Lachy tighter. “S-So many of the younger kids..gone in an instant.”

Lachy pressed his face into the crook of Aidan's neck, wanting to give him as much comfort as possible, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry you had to see it." He was glad he didn't have to experience it himself. Even if he was still shaking from head to toe at what the hallucinations have made him see.

“I’m sorry you had to see whatever that stupid gas made you see.” He replied with. “It must’ve been awful, you’re shaking a lot.” He rubbed soothing circles into Lachy’s back. “Do you wanna stay for a bit longer until you feel better?”

"It's fine, I'm fine Aidan," He took a few deep breaths, trying to calm his heart rate and with the help of Aidan's unusually soothing presence, he at least looked like he was okay a moment later, "We need to go help everyone clean up.."

“Yeah you’re right.” He let go of Lachy, although he definitely didn’t want to, and slid out of the box. He cast a brief look around the courtyard. ‘So many died..and for what? Some glimmer of hope. Some stupid rumor.’ He turned back to the box, offering Lachy his hand to help him get out.

Lachy gladly took Aidan’s hand, letting himself be helped out. He stumbled slightly but caught his balance quick enough. The other teens had started to clean up, gently placing the bodies in bags so they could be disposed of some way or another. Lachy just wished they could have a funeral for them all.

Aidan didn’t say anything and just began to help. With every dead body he came upon, he gently closed the person’s eyes. He also mumbled something under his breath each time. It was the only thing he could do for them.

For a moment nothing happened apart from the cleaning. Sterling didn't come back, the guards didn't seem to make a move to hurt any of them. But then the ground started to shake, a deep rumbling coming from the nearby building.

“What the-“ Aidan quickly got to his feet, trying to figure out what the hell was going on. He quickly tried to find where Lachy was in the crowd, his eyes darting around until he found him. He’d then try to make his way over there.

Not a moment later, the building exploding into a burst of fire and rubble, sending parts of the building flying everywhere. The force was enough to knock some people over, Lachy being one of them. And then there was a loud call, a group of people masked in black gesturing for the teens to follow, pointing to a hole in the nearby courtyard wall.

Aidan froze with shock for a second before he seemed to snap out of it, making it the rest of the way over to Lachy. He offered him a hand up. “Come on! We might be getting out of here.”

Lachy gladly grabbed Aidan's hand, but he didn't let go as he started running, "Let's go before the guards come!" The other teens were doing the same, rushing towards the escape route, they were being guided one way but when Lachy and Aidan showed, one of the guys in black stopped them.

"This way! You two have to come with us!"

Aidan didn’t like that at all, instinctively stepping protectively in front of Lachy. “Why aren’t we going with the rest of the group?” He seemed very very agitated. In the back of his mind, something was already telling him that this was a trap.

Lachy gave Aidan's hand a squeeze, looking up at him for a moment then back to the other. He didn't speak, though as the guy in black was already responding, "It'll all be explained on the way, but you cannot stay here! You'll die and if you die then the rest of the world will follow. So come on!"

Aidan hesitated for a second. This all just seemed so insane. But anything had to be better than staying here. He looked back at Lachy and that was all he needed to decide. “Let’s go.”

The guy led them off towards the forest that surrounded the Facility. The rest of the teens seemed to be being ushered into cars and vans, driving away to safety. The guy and two others led Lachy and Aidan away from them, deeper and deeper into the forest until the Facility was no where in sight.

Aidan let out a small sigh of relief as soon as the Facility was out of sight. He hoped he’d never have to see it ever again. He squeezed Lachy’s hand quickly. Aidan hadn’t let go of his hand the entire time, and didn’t seem like he planned on doing it anytime soon.

Lachy squeezed back, keeping his gaze on the trio in front of them, wondering if they were ever going to tell them what was going on. It wasn't for a little while until they stopped, far enough away from the Facility that they assumed it was safe. They took of their masks. The one who had got them out was an older man, accompanied by a middle aged women and younger girl.

Aidan automatically went back to his suspicious aggressive mode. “Are you going to tell us what the hell is going on now?” He was mostly just agitated because they’d been separated from everyone else. “What’s happening to the others?”

Lachy stepped a little closer to Aidan, wrapping his other hand around the others upper arm. The man crossed his arms over his chest, "The others are fine. They're being taken to a protection camp further south of here. Some of them will join us up north at the rebellion camp soon."

Aidan didn’t shrug him off but gave him a quick look like, just let me be paranoid. “So then what are we doing here?” Of course he was grateful that they’d been rescued but he would never not be suspicious.
