(Hey yeah it was. How about I do morning you a solid and post up my last response? And that's ok I understand ^~^)
Zack's wings shivered reproachfully at the look Caz was giving him. "I don't care what we get. I'm just hungry," He mumbled back, ppressing his nose to the ground and sniffing it dog-like. It was rather weird to see a human-like thing doing it, but it was most Demons did when they were bored or wanted to know where they were. Zack didn't know where the hell he was, and he was trying to get a grasp on something familiar. But there was little to nothing to assure that he was safe in this room.
He didn't want Caz to use his savings, but the mention of it rather shocked the small Demon. He was expecting all Angels to be well-off and covered for most things because of their job. Hearing otherwise was quite odd.
(Alrighty yeah, that helps my dude, i would type up a whole ass paragraph saying sorry- i swear i would- i messed up and- okay I'll shut up umm goodnight !!)
(hey man it's okay I understand my dude no worries. I don't mind at all. Have a nice night.)
(Alright back on track today!)
Caz shrugged, the look of shock written all over Zack's face. "It's alright, it's no trouble at all and we'll get you something to eat.." he trailed off, his tired clear black eyes scanning the room. Caz seemed oddly relaxed with Zack in his house unlike most angels. "Alrighty, well, we better get going if we're going somewhere to eat cause we have things to do today" he walked to his room and put on some casual clothes that the other angels didn't approve of since they were supposed to be "professionals" and "intimidating".
He came back with a backpack on his back like he was a tourist or something. His black hair was now in a much better condition, it was tied back with a brown leather string in a short ponytail, though some of the shorter strands still came undone with a messy grace to them.
Caz opened the door and motioned for Zack to walk through.
Zack watched the Angel warily, his gray eyes squinted a little as confusion settled in. "Um… okay?" He asked slowly as the other walked away. When Caz reentered and gestured for him to stand, Zack stood up slowly, feeling shabby next to the Angel. Somehow, knowing that the Angel had a better lifestyle than him just seemed to make everything more intimidating. Maybe that was the point?
Zack slowly walked out of the apartment, his feet shuffling when he reached outside the threshold. He paused, sticking his hands in his pockets as he waited for Caz. Half of him was tempted to ask what they had to do today. Maybe pointless tests to make sure Zack wasn't violent or crazy. Which he sort of was, but not that much. Hopefully.
Caz locked the door behind him and walked forward, half expecting the demon to follow. "Where do you want to go?" He glanced back at the demon. "I won't eat because I'm not hungry but feel free to choose where you want to go"
Everytime Caz had to deal with demons it lowkey gave him anxiety, a sense of dread in his stomach. His last two hadn't gone well although he tried his best to do everything right- they still- Caz held up a hand to his mouth, suddenly feeling sick. They had been tortured and buchered right in front of him and he did not want that for them. He forced himself to regain his composure. "So yeah, food, place, Mexican restaurant again? Or house of pancakes?" He asked casually like he was talking to an old buddy of his.
Zack meandered after Caz like a little puppy, looking at the ground as he walked down the steps after the Angel. He didn't say anything until he was positive Caz had stopped talking and had recovered from his brief moment of… whatever had happened. He wasn't entirely sure what had happened, but he wasn't in the position to ask his potential killer.
"I don't care," He answered in a small voice once they were outside, glancing up and around with a soft sigh, his wings curling up and disappearing before a suspicious Human could see them. The last thing he needed was to tell everyone around them that he was a prisoner to this Angel.
Caz turned around completely and frowned. "Are you sure? I mean, I sure don't know what your preferences are so I would very much like it if you told me what you want" Caz sighed and kept walking. "We'll decide once we get to the main part of the city…" he said quietly.
A few minutes later as they approached the more crowded area of the city Caz started up talking again. "So is this how you usually are? Do what you're told and keep your opinions to yourself?" Caz wanted to know more about him before he started the lessons with Zack. "What's your favorite thing to do?" He asked, to Zack it might have seemed meaningless but for Caz it was important to see how much he needed to go over with him.
"Yeah, I'm sure," He answered back, enjoying walking the rest of the way in silence. He looked around left and right as the Angel talked, not looking to him until he stopped talking.
"I was told it's what Demons are supposed to do. And I usually like to stay under the radar, but I guess it didn't work," He mumbled with a soft sigh, looking down at his feet again with a shrug. And he really didn't know what he liked to do anymore. "I used to draw, if that's what you want to know. I painted a lot, too."
Caz nodded, it would be an understatement if he said he feared the demon. He had a way of talking that made Caz feel like he was walking on egg shells and he did not want to mess this up- oh wait. He sighed. When he mentioned drawing and painting his interest was peaked. "What kind of things if you don't mind me asking?" As soon as he had asked that question he regretted it. If only there was a way to make him emote like smile or laugh. The other demons he had delt with weren't this closed off so Caz wondered if something had happened or was bothering him. Oh wait. He frowned again. "Do you want to go back home?" He asked quietly.
Zack glanced up a little and looked off to the horizon and forest to their very far left. "I used to draw realistic people. I was really good at it, according to my parents. I painted landscapes and murals too. I used to give them to people who liked them a whole lot." There wasn't any form of currency down where he was from, so he was always happy to give things away for free of quality, even up in the Human world.
Before Zack was able to finish mulling over his answer, he paused with a small sigh. He did want to go home. But there was no way he'd be able to without a mate. That was the rule. You couldn't return to Hell without a mate.
"I do."
Caz smiled at that. "In all my years of doing the same ritual with you demons I don't think I've ever heard of anyone saying they liked to paint, it's a nice change." Caz stopped walking when Zack answered his last question. "Then why don't we just take you home? We could find someone to accompany you…you don't seem like a bad demon to me….in fact none of you do…it would be an honor" he said bowing to Zack then laughing because of the way he mocked how the angels presented themselves. "I take that you haven't ever tried to kill anyone, right?"
"I can't go home without a mate. It's the rules," Zack murmured. "They don't want Vra-Cormoas to be lonely after their experience with Humans." His voice was stiff and tight, with a learned-by-heart tone to it. His lips were still pushed in a frown, but somehow more so at his speech. He sighed and glanced around at the buildings again at the Angel's question.
"I have killed someone, many people, for many Contracts with Humans. This is probably why they sent you to deal with me. I am somewhat dangerous, and probably out of control, right?"
That was almost exactly what they had told Caz about Zack.
"Then let's find you someone so you can go home" Caz said plainly, all amusement gone from his voice. "I don't know if you would kill again but if you do find someone and end up going home I still have to look out for you for a while." He sighed. "Yeah, but you really don't strike me as dangerous or out of control- now I'm not saying that i wished it would be like that cause god knows i don't but you dont look…" Caz paused, trying to find the right word. "Intimidating? You seem really passive…" Caz muttered at the end. "Ah, yes, anyways, you don't have to do all this" he gestured to the sky, meaning the lessons to become 'good'. "We could just find you someone and send you home." As Cas spoke, he seemed tired, like he had said the same thing a thousand times, done the whole thing a thousand times. "i don't want you to think this a trick or a joke of some kind because it's not…" Caz zoned out for a second, a dull look in his eyes. He gave up trying to explain on whatever it was he was trying to say. "Let's just go." He walked in silence after that, until they got to the front of the restaurant they had been at the day before. "I'll pay so knock yourself out" he said entering and holding the door open for Zack.
Zack stayed completely silent through Caz's speech, until the part of his passiveness. "I don't look like a Demon? I do not present myself to look intimidating because that's what Demons who want to be caught do. You Angels just haven't figured out our methods of staying away from you." It was bold, what he just said, but he vowed he wouldn't say any more about the methods, and nothing nearly as bold to Caz again in risk of getting hurt. He followed the Angel inside sticking his hands into his pockets in the meantime with a soft sigh as they were seated. He didn't bother picking up his menu; it was the same restaurant, after all. And he wasn't going to order too much, despite his growling stomach. He didn't want Caz running out of money and some other Angel coming by and yelling at him about it. And possibly administering punishment.
Caz was taken aback by what Zack said but he kept him mouth shut, following Zack inside and sitting down across from him. methods of staying away? he questioned in his head but dismissed it, not really interested or thinking that he should have the right to know. "You know, it's alright, right? You don't have to respect me or anything, I haven't done anything to deserve your respect. I'm not a high and mighty angel. I've tried to demonstrate that again and again but it seems like you haven't noticed yet. You don't have to believe me or take my word for it but I really wont hurt you, no matter what you do, i promise." Caz had crossed a line he was warned not to cross, trying to get friendly with a demon. Promising something to someone was like a bind for an angel, they had to keep their word in honor of their master's reputation, but Caz seemed unphased by his promise and instead leaned back in the chair, waiting for the guy to come over and take Zack's order. Though Caz seemed tired, dark bags under his eyes, like he hadn't gotten sleep, ever.
(Also, sorry i haven't been responding as much. I came to visit family and these past few days have been hella busy, so just a warning that i might not be able to answer right away or even frequently)
(Hey that’s a-okay. Do you wanna skip to the end of their meal?)
