(If you would, please.)
(Oof, all right. You start?)
(Oki)
Alex had talked to the manager and got a slight discount for the penthouse. It’s better than no discount, Alex thought dryly as he got up to the room. He set his stuff down and a small card flitted out of his pocket. He picked it up thoughtfully. It was the business card that MJ had given him.
Autumn had gone back to her apartment once she thought Alex was settled in well enough. She laid down, her legs hanging half off the end of the bed, and stared up at the ceiling. Hopefully, she would have a good time with Alex when they went out for lunch tomorrow. Not that she doubted that they would.
Alex crossed the room and sat down on a chair facing the city. He grabbed his phone then dialed the number on the card, lifting the phone up to his ear. He felt nervous, but when hadn’t he?
"Brooklyn Chelys' office. How may I help you?" a light, feminine voice answered.
Alex searched the card. “Hi, can I talk to your boss, please?” He decided to just use the customary ‘boss’ term until he learned this person’s name.
"Miss Chelys is not in at the moment. May I give her a message for you?" the receptionist asked.
“Erm, yes. Just tell her my name is Alexander Langton and MJ sent me.” Alex leaned forward a little in his chair.
"Of course, Mr. Langton. Is there a number I can give her to call you back at?" she asked.
He gave the receptionist his phone number. “Tell her to call me back whenever she has time, as well. I’m not too busy.”
"Of course, Mr. Langton. I will be sure to tell her for you. Have a great rest of your day!" she chirped before hanging up.
Alex was unable to return the well wish before she hung up.
“Well,” He said aloud, “that went well.”
Brooklyn Chelys' receptionist took down Alex's information and let the producer a note to call him back.
Autumn called Alex to see how his call went, and she waited for him to pick up after dialing his number.
Alex glanced at his phone. Already? Oh it’s Autumn!
He picked up the cell phone. “Hello?”
"Hey, did you call yet?" Autumn asked when she heard Alex pick up the phone.
“Hey Autumn! Yeah, I did call. Her receptionist said she wasn’t there, though.” Alex leaned back into the chair.
"Really? That's odd. Maybe try calling again. Sometimes they just like people who are persistent," Autumn suggested.
Alex frowned. “I’ll try again in a couple days. She might actually be out doing something, you know?”
Autumn nodded before she realized he couldn't see her.
"Right, yeah. That is true," she admitted.
Alex smiled a little again. “Yep. If she doesn’t call me back within those two days I will take your suggestion.”
(I'll brb. School.)
"Good," Autumn said with a light laugh. "Because I know what I'm talking about."
(Okay!)
He laughed too. “I believe you! You’ve helped me get started down a long road.”
"I'm happy to help," Autumn declared with a smile.
Alex yawned sleepily, even though it was only five o’ clock.
“Welp, I’ve got writing to do, so, talk to you later?”
