“Of course,” Veronica smiled, blushed a little bit. Gosh she loved her. She loved everything about her. Her smile, her eyes, her dang lips… She had troubled forcing herself to stand and look away, but if she didn’t she knew they’d probably miss school.
Elaine's eyes sparkled. "Come on." She took hold of Veronica's slender wrist and pulled her upstairs to her bedroom, restraining herself from pinning the other girl against the wall and kissing her like there was no tomorrow.
Elaine's room was in a sort of organized clutter, with beige walls, a cream ceiling, and simple furniture made out of the same light-toned wood. She made straight for the dresser in one corner, opening and closing drawers until she emerged with a few different outfits, which she held up against Veronica in turn. Finally she settled on a grey-brown corduroy button-up with small black buttons, a white shirt to wear underneath, and a loose black knee length skirt. "You like?"

“I love it,” Veronica said with a smile, eyes sparkling as she looked at the outfit. She had always thought Elaine had a good sense of style, and Veronica hardly ever good make herself look good. “Where can I change?”
Elaine’s face heated up slightly. In here— “There’s a bathroom down the hall,” she replied, rooting around in her drawer until she emerged with a cream off-the shoulder knitted sweater and and black leggings.
Veronica made her way to the bathroom, closing the door behind her and ‘accidentally’ forgetting to lock it, for some reason. She slipped out of her wrinkled clothes, and as she was putting the shirt on, the distinct smell of Elaine crashed into her senses, muting her thoughts for a few seconds. It seemed Veronica couldn’t put the rest of the outfit on fast enough, secretly enjoying the fact that it showed how her heart belonged to Elaine.
Elaine looked her appearance over in the mirror for maybe the millionth time, chewing on her lip anxiously. She tugged at the edge of the loose top, pulling it slightly farther down her shoulder and chest. When she was satisfied with the outfit, she quickly braided two strips of her hair and pulled them around the back of her head, grabbing a slim black choker from her jewellery box and opening the bathroom door– "forgetting" to knock.
Veronica had just been adjusting how the shirt laid on her chest, about to tug it upwards, when Elaine opened the door. She jumped, only half aware of how her bra was showing quite a bit. Veronica blushed, and it didn’t help her hands were having trouble functioning correctly for some reason.
Elaine blushed profusely, stepping further into the bathroom and shutting the door behind her, even though there was no one else in the house. Her eyes flickered down to the expanse of chest and bra peaking out from beneath the shirt, but she quickly forced them back up to Veronica’s face. She was pleased to see that Veronica looked about as flushed as she did. “Hey.” It came out quieter, shyer, than she’d intended.
“I……” Veronica’s tongue didn’t want to function either, it seemed. “H-Hey,” She blushed even more as her hands fumbled to tug the shirt back up with numb fingers. Her own eyes glanced at how Elaine’s shirt was positioned, blushing even more. And for some reason her traitorous hand tugged her shirt back down just a little bit, not as much as it had been before but enough to mirror Elaine’s.
Veronica's whole face was endearingly pink, which brought a giddy smile to Elaine's cheeks despite her own flusterdness. She took a step forward, taking the other girl in. Elaine's eyes travelled up her body appreciatively, and eventually, her hand did too, following the dip of her waist up to the bare spot where her shoulder and neck met, then up to her cheeks. "You look stunning," she whispered softly, mouth hovering above Veronica's.
“You’re stunning as well,” Veronica breathed, heart fluttering as a shiver went down her spine from where Elaine’s hand travelled. She leaned in, half aware of how their chests touched a little as she kissed Elaine sweetly but forcing herself to keep it short, pulling away a moment later, “Too bad we have school today.” Her face must’ve been as red as a firetruck by now.
"I'll manage…. somehow," Elaine managed, mouth numb from the tenderness of the simple kiss. "We don't have class together all morning, I don't think I can last…" Her eyes poured over Veronica's face, drinking her in. God– oh god–
“You know… I’m… hungry…” Veronica mumbled, though she wasn’t exactly hungry for food. She wanted those lips again, she wanted them so dang bad. But she made herself take a step back, then go around and opened the bathroom door in attempt to ignore her pounding heart.
Elaine smiled at her back, following her up into the passage and into the kitchen. "We've got waffles," she offered, opening a cupboard and pulling out a plastic jar. "And Nutella. And bananas."
“Mmmmm, that sounds pretty good,” Veronica said with a shy smile, a little bit bashful despite all the kissing they had done. She bit her lip with a smile, hoping the blush had disappeared from her face by now. “Hey, maybe, do you -uh- maybe want to have- to have a sleepover at my place tonight? I-I got to ask my parents first, but…” Veronica trailed off, frustrated with herself and her nervous stuttering.
Anticipation and delight shone in Eline's dark eyes. "Definitely. I'd love to, as long as your parents are fine with it." She smiled warmly, Veronica's stuttering was so cute…. it felt amazing to know she had that kind of effect on somebody. She began preparing breakfast, popping two chocolate chip waffles in the toaster and chopping up a banana.
Veronica grinned, joy sparkling in her eyes as she declared, “I think… I think today will be a great day.” It won’t be like yesterday, I won’t let it be like yesterday… Veronica told herself, squaring her shoulders.
Elaine grinned, brushing her hair out of her face. “I completely agree.” Elation bubbled up inside her and she almost leaped for joy when she came around the table to Veronica and took both her hands in hers. “I think,” she began, brushing her thumbs over her knuckles, “I think we should go out for lunch. Picnic in the park.”
Veronica blushed, because she loved the feeling of being loved. She loved it when Elaine took her hands like that. She loved looking into those beautiful dark eyes. “That’d be really fun. Would it be… a date?”
Elaine’s eyes shone. “Yes. Definitely.” She leaned forward for a quick kiss that made her heart surge and then turned away to pluck their waffles from the toaster and set the table. She felt almost drunk on happiness— she never wanted this feeling to end. In the end, she’s the most powerful drug of all.
Veronica grinned, her heart fluttering. She just felt so… happy. This unending happiness caused by Elaine… Veronica didn’t even know but she loved it. She loved her. She felting lighter than air around her, she felt free around her. Veronica wanted so dang badly to walk over to Elaine and start kissing her again, but her stomach growled and her hand went for a waffle instead.
Elaine began spreading Nutella over her waffle, unable to take her eyes off Veronica for more than a a few seconds. Happiness was bursting inside of her— she thought she might start floating any second. “I can’t stop looking at you,” she confessed, glancing bashfullyup at her through her eyelashes.
Veronica blushed, gosh Elaine looked so beautiful… “The feeling is mutual…” She trailed off, then mentally slapped herself to focus and eat her waffle without staring at Elaine forever.
Elaine finally managed to tear her eyes away from Veronica, smiling ridiculously widely down at her plate. She somehow managed to take a grand total of three bites out of her waffle without looking over at the beautiful girl next to her. “Ugh, school.”
“Yeah… I’m gonna miss you,” She told her with a laugh, managing to eat the rest of her waffle with only a few glances at Elaine. She hummed, then went to grab her phone so she could ask her parents if it was okay to have a sleepover.
