"I'm sure they're smart. They'll probably follow us." Karkota shrugged. "So I'm madly in love with you huh? and I totally can't survive without you?" he rolled his eyes with a laugh. "Am I aloud to ask you out then? Or is that off limits?"
"I'm sure they're smart. They'll probably follow us." Karkota shrugged. "So I'm madly in love with you huh? and I totally can't survive without you?" he rolled his eyes with a laugh. "Am I aloud to ask you out then? Or is that off limits?"
She shook her head with a chuckle. "Ill-advised, but not off limits. Not that you'd do it or anything."
"What? Oh I'd totally ask you out." Karkota had an a missed look on his face. "In fact, care to go on a date with me? Though I'd advise braking into my apartment so I can grab my wallet. Kinda didn't have it on me when y'all, you know."
She scrunched up her face. "Nothing against you dude, but as I said, i don't recommend getting that close to me." She didn't know why he was doing any of this. Maybe he just wanted to get her guard down to stab her in the back. Maybe he wanted to mess with her emotions. There was always an ulterior motive.
"Oh come on! I'm not that bad of a guy! Besides you've already been drunk around me, told me your dark past. Tackled me. I think a date is in order." Karkota chuckled.
She shook her head. She never said that she would say yes. "Bad idea on your part. It's not wise to be close to someone like me. Especially me."
"Getting close to you can't be that bad. We're both in the same bussnes." He rolled his eyes. "Besides, who's to say its good to get close to me? Lets be dangerous."
She just came right out and said everything on her mind. "My girlfriend was shot and killed in an attempt to capture me–the government's doing. And I don't believe for a second that you want to ask me out. All I saw was fear when I told you who I was, and even after that. I'm your prison guard. I don't believe any of it." She was also talking about his offer to help.
"Scared I'll get killed?" He joked. Though she was right. He was freaking traumatized, still was but was just hiding it. He wanted to push away any thoughts of who she really was. "I might be scared of you, but that doesn't change the fact that I'd like to get to know the less scary you."
"It's not worth it, Karkota," she said sadly, eyes dropping to the counter as she swirled her finger around the counter. "All you have to do is tell me your father's secrets, and you'll be home free. We won't ever have to cross paths again."
"my father would kill me." Karkota narrowed his eyes at her, his tone becoming dangerous. "he'd hunt me down, threaten me with my mothers safety, and make my death long and painful." he didn't care much for getting killed, and besides that, he'd do anything to keep his mom safe.
"And you think being with me would be any safer?" she hissed. "I have a thousand targets on my back. You wanna know why I have Stella? Because it's gotten to the point that I can't even sleep soundly for a week before some idiot tries to kill me. She lets me know when someone is outside. If people found out you were connected to me in any way, they'd take you and force you to talk–or get killed for just being close to me. I'm not risking that. Not again."
"Nothing is any safer. I know that! You don't think people don't try and kill me either? No where near as bad as you, but there's still targets." Karkota actually stood, he wanted to just walk out. "So you're scared of losing someone, we all are. Heck, I've lost people too, Tessa." He wasn't angry that she said she wouldn't go out with him. If anything he'd been joking when he asked her out. What he was angry about was the fact she seemed to think she was the only one with hardships, things going wrong in her life. "How do you think this happened?" He held up his burnt hand, but offered no other explanation.
She didn't answer. Instead, she muttered the only Hawaiian profanity she knew, 'fuck you,' and stormed out of the cafe. The waitresses had conveniently left the premise by this point, and kept Angel from coming back.
(so I have an idea that I want to run by you. He follows her out and she's all like, 'run while you can because I don't got much time left, I know I already have a gun pointed at my head,' yadda yadda. The meaning behind this is that the Rawling family was actually hired by a different Mafia family that's even more of an enemy of Karkota's dad, and the only reason Rawling got involved was his "ownership" of Tessa. The other family has been watching over Tess and doesn't like her lack of horrible treatment of Karkota, thus shooting her as she's doing her thing. But before they can off him too, they get cut off by a mob of screaming and panicking pedestrians. He has time to grab Tess and bring them to safety. Whaddya think? Just a little somethin' to spice things up a bit)
(Oooooh. I like that idea!)
Karkota was tempted to just take off, after all she had just given him yet another chance. But for some reason he didn't. Instead Karkota followed after her. "Tessa!" He called. Not caring if her name was bad luck or not.
(Thank you! I was really bored on the bus today)
Her shoulders tightened as she heard him calling for her. She whipped around to face him, her features twisted with some sort of emotional mixture that even she couldn't quite place. "Run while you can, Karkota. I already have a gun aimed at my head, ready to pull the trigger at the right moment. It's only a matter of time before they get to you as well." She made sure to keep his distance, unknowingly stepping right into the range of a hostile sniper. "I don't want to be the cause of your death. Just run, Karkota." Just as she said that, she screamed and kneeled, her leg now leaking blood from a bullet-sized hole in her thigh. She jerked and crumpled, blood blooming from her stomach. Two faint gunshots could be heard, echoing. People screamed and ran, blocking the five men making their way towards a downed Tessa and Karkota, guns in their hands.
(Lol, thank goodness for your boredom then.)
Why he was so determined to have her see him as a good person was beyond him. Maybe he just wanted her to know not everyone was trying to get ahead of the game. "You already signed my death when you decided to kidnap me. Running would only put me in a worse place- it'd put you in a pretty bad spot to-" her scream cut him off. And for a moment he was frozen. Watching as panic erupted. He cursed loudly and darted for Tessa. He scooped her up in his arms, careful not to be rough. "At least it wasn't at your head." He said coldly, ducking into a back street.
She clutched at her stomach, wincing as she desperately tried to keep as much blood where it was supposed to be as she could. "You should've left me," she said softly, "I'm better off…" she trailed off, vision going hazy. His cold words contradicted his actions, and her head swam–both from blood loss and confusion. Why would he help her still?
"Hey hey hey," Karkota looked around trying to find where the gun shots had came from, "stay with me, Tessa." He adjusted his hold on her. "Tell me about your little sister- Angel. What's she like?" He was trying desperately to keep her from backing out. He didn't know what to do in these kind of situations, other then not let them die. Though he did know he had to get her to a hospital, and fast to.
Tessa shivered slightly, still holding onto her stomach. She was less worried about her leg, but it was still a problem. She also hated hospitals, but she would have to suck it up. Just imagine them as goofy and caring as Ronan and his father. Just imagine them like Ronan and his father. "Angel, yeah…Her name suits her. She so sweet and innocent, but has that temper that runs in my mother's family…"
"Tell me about your mother then." He fished her phone outta her pocket, trying not to drop her in the process. He dialed 911, "I need an ambulance." He said as he set Tessa down. Sure that the shooter hadn't followed them. Karkota gave the address and he placed a hand over her stomach, putting pressure on the gun shot. "Stay will me Tessa. You are not aloud to die."
She scrunched up her face, breathing labored. "Says who?" she asked weakly, laying her head back and looking blankly up at the sky. "Why?" she finally asked after some silence. "Why…care?"
He didn't really have an answer to such a question. "Says me, an do I really need a reason to care?" It didn't take long before he could hear sirens. "They're almost here. Stay awake. Come on."
She blew out a weak breath, only forcing her eyes to stay open because of him. "I really hate doctors…" she muttered. It wasn't the first time's she's been shot, so she was surprisingly calm considering the situation.
