(Totally not thinking that his twin gets a hold of Melanie…totally not that…)
"Welp, that must be nice." Melanie sighs. "That is why I don't have siblings. No sibling drama." She grabs her book from her carry-on bag and opens to her bookmarked page, her eyes skimming the words quickly.
(I was planning on that guy staying out of the picture for now. But it's a possibility if we need some drama later.)
"That, is why I said you're lucky." said Alex, finishing the sandwhich and continuing to polish and clean his flute.
(Yeah, for drama purposes)
"I don't think I'm on the luckiest side of the spectrum, but sure, I'll take it." Melanie nodded whilst reading, acknowledging Alex's comment.
Alex stayed silent, eventually pulling out some notes and looking them over. Sighing boredly he watched Melanie read. "Hey.. do you want to come with me into the woods?" he asked, "I could show you more of what I can do if you'd like… or we could go exploring.. or something…"
"Awkward much? Anyways, the answer's probably a yes. As long as nothing severe happens-my mom pretty much killed me for limping around the house after the incident yesterday." Melanie smiled shyly, turning her head a little to look at Alex.
Alex facepalmed… "Sorry about that….." he said sheepishly…
"No, no! You're fine! It's not that bad!" Melanie hoped she could lie convincingly. The injury wasn't bad, but it wasn't good, either.
"You're a terrible liar" he said flatly.
"You suck. I don't care, honestly, but…you're fine. It's my fault for challenging you." Melanie found it hard to say. As far as she was concerned, she would have never normally admitted to someone being better than her.
"Hey.. I probably should've been more careful anyway…" said Alex, "Though no offence that was pretty stupid" he said, knowing exactly why he'd said it.
(THANK YOU SOO MUCH I AM LEGITIMATELY BORED OUT OF MY SKULL)
(LOL IT'S OKAY I GOT YOU)
"Don't push it, furball. If I blame myself, let me. It's a rare sight to see." Melanie glared at him in slight annoyance.
Alex rolled his eyes, resisting the urge to laugh. "Maybe I should try and teach you swordsmanship…" he mused,
Melanie raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "I'd rather stick to my fists. It's what I grew up with. Plus, it'll be hard to teach me. I've only read about swords and stuff like that in books."
"It wouldn't be that hard…" said Alex, "Besides, I have an extra sword at my place…. And books are usually somewhat accurate."
"Yeah, but I'm not that athletic. I can use my arms, sure, but I can't run for anything. Besides, books may be right in some aspects, but I've never touched a blade in my life unless you count butter and steak knives. One time I cut my finger deep, and I had to get stitches. So…don't trust me with anything sharp." Melanie tried to convince Alex not to teach her, but she would probably be taught anyways, even with her stubborn efforts.
"You don't have to be athletic." said Alex reasonably. "And you don't necessarily have to use a blade either…"
Melanie scowled and crossed her arms. "Fine. Mind if I ask where we'll meet after school?"
"Think you can find the clearing where we met up last time?" asked Alex,
"Maybe." Yes, but I don't want you to win at everything compared to me… Melanie sighed as she checked her watch. "I'll see you in ELA, then. I should start heading to class."
Alex nodded, "Make sure you have everything this time!" he called, watching her.
"Shut up. That was once." Melanie rolled her eyes as she stood, grabbing her lunchbox and her carry-on bag (I say carry-on bag because I don't visualize it as a purse). She walked away, briskly finding her locker before putting her lunchbox away, and headed to her next class.
(Timeskip to ELA? Or the end of the school day?)
(We can skip to ELA)
Alex sighed as the bell rang, grabbing his stuff and jogging off. He slipped the flute in his pocket, smiling as the band on his wrist pulsed a little.
Nice friend you've got there
Melanie found her way to the classroom, nodding in Mr. Rutan's direction. He nodded back once, keeping an eye on her. Melanie was secretly glad Alex was at least her friend and that he didn't care who she is or what she ever did. She didn't even know if he knew, considering that he never looked at her in fear. I mean, he has no need to. He could win at pretty much anything against me. Melanie sat down and opened her laptop, working on an assignment for one of her classes.
Alex popped in shortly after her, quickly pulling out what he needed, along with a notebook for that geo project. He glanced over at Melanie for a moment, before going back to his stuff.
She's pretty
It's not like that and you know it!
Just saying
(Adding a slight twist for context)
