“Maybe—maybe we should pretend you’re my boyfriend the whole time, just to be safe,” she suggested, stumbling over her words a bit for the first time that day. She blinked up at him.
“Maybe—maybe we should pretend you’re my boyfriend the whole time, just to be safe,” she suggested, stumbling over her words a bit for the first time that day. She blinked up at him.
He blinked. "Uhm, okay." He replied slowly, trying to ignore the way his heart lurched in his chest. He kept his arms around her, pulling her closer.
She let him puller her closer, smiling a little. This was nice. If only her heart would stop beating erratically. For a few minutes she just stayed like that, before grinning at him. “So, drinks?” she asked mischievously.
He smirked. "Sounds good." He took her hand, and led her through the crowd to the table with the drinks.
She followed happily, trying to remind herself that it was only pretend. “You can order for me, because I, uh, haven’t really gotten anything other than some random beer at a party and stuff.” She was honestly a little embarrassed about that. She didn’t even know how old Logan was. What if he thought she was like a little kid for that?
He chuckled. "Me too, to be honest." He replied with a small smile. He simply ordered two beers, and paid, handing her one. "So. Here's to hoping these are good." He opened his. "Need me to open yours?"
“I’ve got it,” she replied, stubborn as always. She got it open relatively quickly, grinning triumphantly. “I hope they’re good too.” She took a small sip, and she felt the slight burn of the alcohol in her throat.
(lol i’m trying to describe what beer tastes like solely based off of books ngl)
He chuckled, and took a drink of his own, feeling the sensation as it tracked a path into him. "Alright."
(Same tho. I'm not legally allowed to drink yet lol)
“This isn’t bad?” she responded, though the beer itself didn’t exactly taste good, either. But the more she drank, the less she noticed.
(ahksjdksdhshs same)
He smiled. "No, it really isn't too bad." He replied. He took another sip, pausing for a moment to get used to the feeling. He had had alcohol before, though not recently.
She smiled back at him, continuing to drink the beer. “I wonder if there’s a lot of other places like this, where people are surrounded by others again instead of hiding away by themselves,” she mused. “What if there are little communities?”
He took another sip. "Hmm. That would be pretty amazing." He said with a smile. "I mean…yeah. It wpuld just be really amazing to see and be a part of."
“Meeting you and being here has made me realize that hiding myself away from everyone might be safer, but really it’s just made me so lonely,” she added, glancing at the people on the dance floor. “I sort of feel like playing it safe isn’t the best option? Because maybe I’ll survive a little longer, but it won’t make me happy. Of course, happiness is the least of our concern, isn’t it?”
Logan sighed softly. It is I and others like me who have caused this… He thought. "You're right. I think I've probably been too…alone as well." He kept drinking the beer.
She gave him a quick smile. “I’m glad that we met,” she said. “Do you want to go dance again? I finished my beer and I don’t feel like having another just yet.”
He smiled back, and finished the rest of his beer, feeling the buzz as it traveled through his system. "Sure." He threw the bottle away and led her out onto the dance floor.
She threw hers away as well before following him. For the first time since the invasion, she was surrounded by people, and she loved it. She had always been an extrovert. She grinned at Logan, her eyes shining with excitement (or possibly the buzz from the beer).
Logan led her onto the dance floor, smiling. His eyes, too, were bright, that strange golden color shining a bit in the dim light.
Allie noticed that Logan seemed otherworldly, almost. She briefly wondered if it was the beer, though she’d only had one. She was sure that it was nothing, although even the day before it would have instantly made her wary. She just felt so relaxed. She glanced at the spot where the creepy from earlier was standing now and moved closer to Logan.
Logan put his arm around her waist again. "Is the creep back?" He asked softly, noticing that she was pulling closer to him. She looked beautiful…but he couldn't allow himself to start becoming attached. He couldn't.
He wasn’t really paying attention, Allie was just playing it safe…or so she told herself. She knew that wasn’t the real reason, though. She just liked being close to him. “I don’t think he’s paying us any attention now, but I’d rather be safe than sorry,” she told him.
Logan nodded. "Yeah, I understand." He replied softly, keeping his arm around her. He was dancing a bit, as much as he could while still holding her close. He told himself it was to keep her safe, but…that was only part of it.
She copied him, dancing a bit. She smiled, gazing into his eyes before glancing away shyly. She didn’t want to give herself away, but she still wanted to be closer. “This is a good song,” she commented, trying to distract herself.
He nodded in agreement. "Yes, it is." He replied with a small smile, his free hand coming up to rest on her shoulder lightly.
She put her arms around him as well, moving a tiny bit closer. She began to hum along. She could hum moderately well, but her singing was atrocious.
