He held onto the other, shivering and shaking in fear. He slowly calmed down, sniffling quietly as he does so. He breathed in and out shakily, before managing to regain his breath.

Lucien kept holding him gently, still rubbing his back and murmuring gentle, comforting words. He looked at Aki, hoping the other boy was calming down.
Aki sighed softly before slowly rubbing at his eyes and pulling away. "I-I need to get back to work." He whispers softly. He needed to keep working on a cure.
Lucien nodded. "Alright. I'll be back in twelve hours to make sure that you've slept and eaten, and if you haven't, we're going to repeat this. You aren't allowed to work yourself to death trying to find this cure."
Aki nods before standing and trying to get a hold of himself. "Thank you." He mutters softly. "I'll be back soon." He hurries out of the room, desperate to get back to work.
Lucien watched him go, and got up himself, heading to the door. He sighed, raking a hand through his hair. God. We need to figure out what to do.
(Ooh what if Lucien caught the disease? And so then the pressure is really on to find the cure? Idk just an idea that popped into my head lol)
(Oof, yes! I was thinking about Zephyr dying but this is perfect)
Aki starts back on working on a cure, sobbing into his hands as he worked. He needed to move faster, work harder. He knew the kingdom was depending on him.
(alright! You can still kill him if you want lol. What's the first signs of the disease, btw?)
Lucien sighed softly, and started walking, headed to get working on his next duty. He raked a hand through his hair.
(First signs of the disease is a soar throat, bloodshot eyes and rashes.)
Aki trembled as he mixed the potions together, inhaling the sickly sweet scent. He tested it carefully, nothing. Absolutely nothing. He screamed in despair, throwing it across the room. There was a knock and he looks up. One of the physicians enter. "Master Magician?" She says softly. The title made him freeze. He looks up. "What… what did you say?" He whispers, his eyes widening in fear. Her eyes are soft. "He's… he's gone…" Aki stood before he broke down the hall, towards where the patients were being held. The last thing he saw was his masters still face being covered by a blanket. Aki choked, gasping for air as he fell to his knees.
"Sir! You can't be here! You'll get sick!" The physician grabbed him, pulling him away while he screamed, he cried. He had lost everything and now his master was gone. He was pulled back to his lab and placed in a chair as he sobbed into his hands. "We must focus on the task at hand now." The woman says softly. "I know you're grieving but we… we have to find a cure."
Aki sobbed into his hand before nodding, rubbing away the tears. He had no time to mourn. But he did, internally at least. He threw himself into his work, not caring for his health anymore, only focused on finding a cure. His master was gone. He wasn't going to let it happen to anyone else.
(alright, thanks)
Lucien was in a meeting when he started to cough. His throat was feeling irritated, but he brushed that off as just simply from not having enough rest. He hadn't looked in a mirror lately, and so had no idea that his eyes were becoming more and mode bloodshot. Although, there was no reason to even suppose he could be sick. He had been made to steer well clear of anyone with the disease, so that he wouldn't catch it.
Aki whimpered softly as he worked, searching for answers, working harder then he ever could. He needed to work faster, harder.
A physician walks past Prince Lucien, glancing at him. His eyes widen. "Prince Lucien, are you alright?" He asks gently, his eyes widening. "Sir, you need to come with me." His gloved hand gently takes Lucien's wrist.
Lucien shook his head. "I'm fine." he replied. "I just need a nap." he tugged his hand away. He rubbed his eyes with his other hand.
"Your highness. I'm going to have to insist you come with me. We can't risk you having the illness." He states gently. His eyes were calming. "It's by rule sire."
"I'm fine." Lucien insisted again. "I'm just…tired. It's been a long day. A good night's sleep and I'll be just fine."
"I have to insist." He sighs. "With the sickness going around, it's by order." He says firmly. "Even if it be sleep, I need to inspect you."
Lucien sighed, rubbing at his eyes again. "Fine." He mumbled. "Let's get it over with, then."
"Thank you." He gently guides the other to the inspection area, washing his hands and placing on clean gloves. "Alright. Let me run some quick tests." He mutters softly.
Lucien sat down tiredly, watching the physician carefully.
He ran a few tests before gulping softly. "Sire… You… I hate to say this…" He mutters before looking up fearfully.
Lucien blinked, looking at him. "Just say it. You aren't going to be punished or something, if that's what you're afraid of." he replied slowly.
He sighed softly. "Sire. You've caught the illness. I'm sorry but I'm going to have to quarantine you." He explains.
Lucien's eyes widened. "No, I…that's impossible!" he sputtered, standing. "I can't have!"
The man looked pained. "I'm sorry, your highness, but I'm afraid so." He says quietly. His hands had raised into a reassuring gesture.
Lucien sat down again. "But I…how?" He said slowly. "I don't understand how."
"Have you been around someone who has been caring for the sick? The illness is also air spread, but I'm sorry…" He says softly, his eyes saddened.
