“Oh no,” I snarked, “A teenager without his phone. Whatever will he do?”
“Oh no,” I snarked, “A teenager without his phone. Whatever will he do?”
“Back off.” I grumbled, crossing my arms.
“Sure.” I rose to my feet. “I will leave you alone, if that’s what you want. You’ll never see me or your phone again.”
(For some reason I didn’t see this come up until now! Sorry Topaz!)
“No! Wait!” I scrambled to my feet, wobbling as the world spun around me for a moment.
(JUST KISS ALREADY)
(dw about it!)
A smirk tugging at my lips, I glanced sideways. "Yes?"
It took me a good thirty seconds to decide on whether my phone was worth this. But then I remembered Romeo’s broken arm and decided it was much safer to stay out of family trouble for as long as possible. To do that I needed my phone back. With a long sigh and gritted teeth I muttered, “Don’t go.”
"Well, what am I supposed to do? Hide out on school property for the rest of the afternoon?" God only knew how much I was enjoying this. Finally, after weeks of him getting on my nerves, I had the upper hand. The power. And I could do whatever I wanted with it.
“Whatever you want.” The urge to spit out every word was almost irresistible. I could feel anger surging in my chest. Usually if I had a problem with someone we would fight. End of story. But this? This was inescapable. The result was trying to swallow the raging fire that would have me swinging punches in any other circumstance. I clenched my fists, fixing my vengeful glare on the ground.
Amusement danced in my eyes. "You know," I said slowly, purely to elicit a reaction. "You're really cute when you're trying not to punch me."
I raised my scorching glare to meet her gaze, squaring my jaw. We’re playing this game then? Fine. Let’s dance, Capulet. I forced my fists to unclench, desperately trying not to snap and lose my cool. “So you think I’m cute as soon as you got some control over me? Not to kinkshame, but…” I snorted, shoving my hands into my pockets.
(MERCUTIO)
Red bloomed across my cheeks, but I refused to let my expression falter. Instead of throttling him, I burst out laughing. "Mercutio, oh my god…. I can't believe you just said that, mi dio."
(He’s awful Im so sorry XD)
I eyed her with veiled amusement, schooling my expression into being cool and relaxed. “Embarrassed That You’ve been caught in the act? That’s quite the blush, Capulet.” I commented casually, running a hand through my hair.
(he's amazing, what're you talking about
XD)
As a last act of defence, I raised my eyebrow. "You don't sound all too disappointed. And for the last time, I'm not a Capulet."
“Never said I was.” I winked at her, smirking confidently. “And anyone that’s on the other side of town is a Capulet to me.”
(MY GOSH THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME)
What was this? Goddammit, Mercutio. I was losing the advantage, and fast. Attempting to regain ground, I clasped my hands behind my back. "I was unaware that you were a carbon copy of Romeo Montague/"
“Were you under the impression Romeo learned how to flirt on his own? I’m a little disappointed in you.” I stopped, a light chuckle escaping my lips. “Also, you do realize you didn’t have to steal my phone to get my number? Or was this a ploy to get my number and spend time with me?”
Shit. Shit, shit, shit, went my thoughts. My mind chose that exact moment to go blank, and it was all I could do to stitch together a hasty "Wishful thinking, much?"
“Wishes seem to have a way of coming true with me.” All it took was the little chink in the armor for me to realize I was regaining control of the situation. The rushed response and somewhat blank look on her face as she tried to come up with a witty reply. “So, Marina.” I took my time to say her name, letting it roll slowly off my tongue in a manner that I probably would get detention for if a teacher heard it. “You’ve got me all alone. What’s next?”
Fuck. No. What was wrong with me?? Why was my heart suddenly speeding at a million miles per hour? Why was my meticulously constructed mask crumbling to bits? Why was I blushing? None of it made any sense.
"What's next, is I snap your phone in two," I somehow managed, but my conviction had dissipated.
“No you won’t.” I rolled my eyes playfully. “You like having power over me, don’t you?” I teased, allowing a second meaning to slip into my words.
Finally, finally, a witty comeback rose to mind.
"Why, do you like it when I have the upper hand?" The same connotation slipped into my voice as it had to his. "Is there something you're trying to tell me, Mercutio?"
I paused, feeling my face get a bit red. I cleared my throat quickly and shrugged. “You caught me in the act, what can I say?”
"You're a bad actor," I told him, using exaggerated bluntness as a shield. "If you want to pretend to be in love, take notes from Romeo."
