(Hi! I’m babysitting tonight so my responses might be a bit spread out!)
“You’re not supposed to.” I chuckled, staring up at the night sky. “Just do me a favor and get some rest. You need it.”

“You’re not supposed to.” I chuckled, staring up at the night sky. “Just do me a favor and get some rest. You need it.”
(Dw about it, have fun
How’re you?)
“Okay….” I whispered, already grateful for our warmth and closeness. “Good night…”
“Night, Juliet.” I took a deep breath. Everything in the world just felt right. It did with Juliet cuddled up to my chest at least. I closed my eyes, trying to calm myself to the point of falling asleep.
(Maybe we could skip to the middle of the night? One of them/both of them wake up from nightmares?)
(Heck yeah! You always have the best ideas omg)
(Thank you! Want me to start?)
(Sure!)
Bullets tore through the air around me, cacophonous screams slammed against my ears by the bitter wind that had kicked up, whipping my hair back. Gunshots exploded in the dirt, sending up sprays of dirt and causing me to flinch and stumble backwards. I reached for a knife, a weapon, anything, panic turning my blood to icy slush, but when I looked down at my hands… they were red and slick with blood.
I screamed and acted on the first instinct that flooded my body; I turned and ran. Faceless fighters reached for my, hands clawing at my body, dragging me down until my foot caught on something soft beneath me and sent me tumbling. But when I pushed myself up and looked at what I had tripped over, my mother’s blank, lifeless eyes stared up at me.
I gasped, eyes flying open as I pushed myself into a sitting position.
The ocean. Salty air, crashing waves. I felt the wind buffet my hair. A moment of calm before it ended. Boarding the ship the pirates were the Montagues. My raging father storming towards me as the sky turned pitch black, crumbling into the frothing waters below. “Dad, please!” I begged, backing away.”
You’re no son of mine!” The figure shifted from my father to my mother.
The whooshing swing of the rolling pin jolted me awake, gritting my teeth and shaking. “J-Jules?” I reached for her, my voice weak and trembling.
I was hugging my knees to my chest, tears streaking down my cheeks, when I heard a weak voice call my name.
Romeo..
I rubbed furiously at my red-rimmed eves with trembling hands and turned to him, misery etched into my features. “Y-Yeah?”
I sat up, pulling Juliet into a hug immediately. I held onto her as tight as I could, trying to focus on breathing.
My body went rigid in his arms, hands freezing in the air. “R-Romeo?” I whispered, voice breaking.
I released the quiet whimper that was caught in my throat. “Sorry. I’ll let go in a minute.” I mumbled softly.
“What—What happened?” Sniffling quietly, I settled my arms around his torso in a light, awkward hug.
“Nightmare.” I mumbled, unwilling to explain further. “Why’re you awake? Is it 4 already? Can you stay a bit longer? Please?”
For some unknown reason, his question sent me crumbling again, breaking down in his arms. I buried my face in his shoulder, tear after tear trickling down my face.
I cuddled Juliet close to my chest as she cried, rubbing her back with my good arm. Even my usual aches and pains were numbed by the need to care for the girl in my lap.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered, not having the strength to pull away. “I—fuck.”
“It’s okay.” I murmured quietly, still clinging to her. “I’m sorry too.” He leaned down, resting his head on her shoulder.
At this point, I didn’t know who was holding who, whether he was comforting me, or I was comforting him. In a way, we were each other’s lifelines….. Since when had I become so dependant on him?
“What was your nightmare?” I whispered, voice rough.
(Good morning!)
“Don’t wanna talk about it.” I sniffled quietly. “I’m glad you’re here.”
“Oh…” I swallowed, nodding. “Okay.”
(How’re you?)
(Good! Just getting ready for work. How’re you?)
I gently felt around for her hand, lacing our fingers together to comfort myself. I rubbed circles onto her palm with my thumb, trying to grant her some comfort as well.
(Good, waiting for my sister’s hockey game to start)
A shudder went through me at his touch, but strangely…. I didn’t pull away. “That’s—That’s weird. We.. We both had nightmares at the same time….”
“You had a nightmare too?” I asked quietly, my eyes widened in surprise. “I guess that is sort of weird.”
