M didn’t say anything. He had read little tidbits of thought like that from too many people. It happened too often, in his opinion. He always wondered what made sick freaks experiment and give someone magic against their will.
“Oh. I had some work to do, but I don’t feel up to it.”

@icecubes

Rai reached down to retie her loose shoelaces. "Well what are you feeling up to then?" She questioned as she made two bunny ear loops and crossed them over each other.

M shrugged and cupped his face in his hand. “I wanna go home. That’s what I’m feeling up to.”

@icecubes

Rai frowned, straightening her back. "Is there not another case you could work on or something? What's the point of me being here?"

M rose his eyebrows to peer at her. “You were the one questioning and being interested in me. You can leave whenever you want.”

@icecubes

(hello i just wanted to let you know, i have choir concerts for the next two days so I won't be able to rp very much!)

Rai considered leaving, thinking there wasn't much left for her; however, she stayed anyways due to the desperate hope of something cooler than a simple office job. After all, M isn't even human. "Why are you so fascinated with butterflies?"

Deleted user

(Okay! Good luck!)

M glanced down at his book and shrugged. “I just like them.” He knew why he liked the fluttery insect so much, but he never told anyone. Not even his twin knew why he liked them. Everyone just accepted that, hey, he likes butterflies.

@icecubes

(ohohoho im back hello)

"Yeah?" Rai rose an eyebrow, studying the cover of the book. "Normally there's a reason people like something. Are they pretty? Specific memory? I like vultures because they had this symbolism to this tribe of people," she explained, tilting her head up as if there would be a vulture flying above her. "And birds are just such interesting creatures."

(Ohohohohohoho)

M shook his head, though the reason burned bright in his mind.
“Nope. I just love butterflies.” He blinked at her, rather glad she wasn’t a Mind Reader like himself.

@icecubes

Rai nodded, fidgeting with her hands. "If you say so," she muttered, unsure of what to say next. M was an interesting person, sure, but if he isn't human, what could she ask of him? Does he have parents? How long has he been here? Is age a thing?

Deleted user

M watched her with an amused expression.
“Everyone has parents, dear. I’ve been here for two-thousand years with my twin. And yes. Age is a thing.” He laughed softly.

@icecubes

For a split second, Rai was full of confusion before remembering her thoughts were as physical as her words. I wonder if I can learn to- wait. She shook her head and returned her focus to M's response. "You have a twin? Tell me about them!" she spoke excitedly.

M rose his eyebrows. “You haven’t heard of King Whembrooke? He works here. He’s my twin. There’s not much to say.” He shrugged, yawned, then relaxed.

@icecubes

"I've heard of him, but I don't really know much. I guess I don't really talk to people outside of Carolyn, and she likes to avoid talking about politics to me until I have my own opinion of it. Which I don't," Rai explained, trying to remember any mention of King Whembrooke and his relation to M. "Do you guys not talk a lot?"

Deleted user

M gave a soft hum. “It’s a good thing to do. Neo just inherited the throne, rather than I, so there’s not much to have an opinion on.” He shrugged. “Neo and I talk as much as we have to.”

@icecubes

Hard to talk to people when you have nothing in common. "I've always wondered if I had some secret sibling out there. Although I highly doubt it, it would be nice. Do you sometimes wish you had the throne, or do you enjoy being a PD?" Rai looked to M, thoughtfully.

Deleted user

M grunted his agreement to her thoughts. “There’s a low chance of such a thing, but keep hoping. Me? I did enjoy it, trust me.” He sighed.

@icecubes

"I'm not sure I'd want a sibling. I'd feel bad that they'd be under the care of parents who ditched their other kid," Rai scoffed, rolling her eyes. "You used past tense." Do you not like it anymore? She brings her legs up onto the chair, this time they are crossed.

Deleted user

M sighed. “Unfortunately that was not the case with us. My childhood is quite traumatic when I look back on it.” He kept it to himself, other than that ominous sentence. “I did like it. I did use the past tense.”

@icecubes

Rai tried to avoid handling two conversations at once, so she reminded herself to ask about M's childhood later. I doubt he'd tell me anyways. "Did you just get bored or something?" she muttered curiously.

Deleted user

M shrugged. “People are annoying. Especially when they bother me and my work.” He yawned widely and leaned back in his chair.

@icecubes

Rai cocked her head. "People like me?" she teased. "If you truly liked your work, you wouldn't let people get in the way of your passion for it." Rai suddenly stood up from the chair and approached M's desk. "We must find your spark again! Is there another case anywhere in town? Or even out of town?"

Deleted user

M blinked at her tiredly. “I’ve been doing this job for so long it’s just gotten boring. And no. Not people like you. People who idolize me for what I do.”

@icecubes

Rai threw her hands up into the air. "Then let's find something else for you to do! Come on, M! I know you've gone on living for years and years and years, but there must be something you haven't tried yet. That you might like," she urged, a bewildered smile plastered on her face.

Deleted user

M blinked dolefully at her and slowly shook his head. “Nope. Nothing.” He tilted his head to study her. “Why exactly do you pay so much mind to it, dearest?”
