M sighed deeply as he stood up, looking across the line nervously. "Er… are you sure I'll be okay?" He called back as he poked at the wire with a toe. "Maybe I should just teleport or something," He mumbled to himself as he stood there on thr rooftop. Teleporting seemed a lot smarter than this. He had never crossed buildings like this. Hell, he never had to cross buildings by their roofs.
M glanced up at Rai, suddenly apprehensive. A soft smile graced her face as she makes her way back, but stopping to leave just enough room for M to walk across.
"I'll spot you!" Rai held out her hands and prepared herself just in case he fell. "It's time to learn something new, remember?" She winked. I'm patient. Take all the time you need, we have the rest of our lives. Woah, when did I start referring to him in my thoughts?
"Uhhh, this is a little bit more extreme than just sitting down and learning about it first," M said reproachfully to her thoughts and spoken word. He was clearly the type who liked to sit down and read about something before trying it, whether it be rock climbing or trying a new food. He was definitely that type. "And we don't have the rest of our lives. I have a job, Rai."
She moved her hands to her hips and pouted. "You're the one who agreed to it in the first place. Your job and following this silly system can wait. Systems don't die, but I will." She added, "If it really scares you that much then perhaps I'll go to lunch by myself."
Rai swiveled around and went back to the other building's roof. She threw a glance back at M, wondering if he would leave.
M frowned at her and shook his head at her. He teleported quietly to the other side as she reached it, crossing his arms grumpily.
"I think I'll just do it this way, then, if you're gonna be that way. I didn't think you were so great at it as you are." He looked around for other wires, smirking as he found out there were not.
"Plus, there aren't any more of those wires, so there's no point."
"I have to be great at it," Rai snapped. "And I can't be a parkour artist if I'm only getting around by wires. I only prefer the wires because of the electricity but I can get around just fine otherwise." This was slightly a lie. Rai felt the competitive, stubborn urge to show off, but she wasn't ready to start jumping across buildings that easily. She didn't have nearly enough practice.
Rai bent her knees and ran across the roof, leaping to the next. Only, her long-jump wasn't long enough. Her hands reached for the edge of the roof and caught it. Rai's body dangled over and fear took over, nearly preventing her from climbing back up. I can do this… Her body shook intensely as she swung a leg over.
