He laughed a little. "Like– there's so much that hasn't changed, but so much that has. Like…last time I was here I was still recovering from…from Keats, and now…I'm not exactly…what happened will always be a part of me, I think, but I'm…healing. So that's different in a good way. But on the other hand, my dad…is dying, and that's…not a good thing."
"Damn, yeah, man." He nodded. "It's kinda like.. swappin' one thing for another, sorta? But this time you still have the last shit– huh. Fuck." Danny thought it over for a moment. "Never mind. But yeah, brother, I see that you're sayin'. I kinda get it."
"Yeah." He nodded a little bit. "I have the last what?"
"Like– you still have the shit from last time you were here. To deal with. I'm just sayin' it sounds like a lot to me."
(I'm about to go offline for the night, sorry :/)
"Oh. Yeah. But it's not…as bad." he replied. "If you mean Keats. I've had two years to get over it, and it's…not fully healed, but it's a hell of a lot better than it was."
"Oh, yeah. That's true, I guess." Danny nodded. He stuck his hands in his pockets. "That's good though. That it's better." He knew his words were a little clunky, but he meant well.
Alex laughed faintly. "Yeah. It's better." he replied with a shrug.
Danny's gaze wandered around the familiar streets- his streets, it felt like. Danny felt like he knew them better than anyone else in Dog City, even if that was far from the truth. "And it'll keep gettin' better, probably. That's kinda how it goes, I think." His lanky strides caught uneven bits on concrete a few times- and he very narrowly avoided falling flat on his ass more than once- but he wasn't really stopping to regain his balance. Only adjusting his pace a few times when he was really about to eat shit on the rough ground.
"It better. I mean, it's not like I have forever anyways." He laughed faintly as he walked with Danny, having to take nearly two strides for every one of the werewolf's.
(Not gonna be too active tonight, sorry!)
(that's alright! i don't mind, it's not like i was active for the last 2 months, so i can't exactly complain lmao)
Danny nodded. He barely took two seconds to respond. "Though I guess it's better you don't have forever, right? I mean- shit, that came out.. way wrong." The fact that Alex truly didn't have forever had seemingly slipped his mind for a moment. "That's.. uh. Hah." He laughed a little in embarrassment. "Not what I meant to say, my bad."
(lmao)
Alex's mouth twisted in a faint smile, and he shook his head, laughing a little bit. "What, you saying you want me to die?" he asked in a teasing tone, looking up at Danny after a moment.
He laughed in response, clasping his hands loosely behind his neck. "Dunno, am I?" Danny gave him a fairly dumb, toothy grin, taking a turn down the sidewalk. "But- uh, y'know." Danny shrugged a little. His thoughts trailed off for a few more feet until his head snapped up. "Oh, hey- you wanna go to the park or somethin'? The weather's pretty nice, so."
Alex chuckled quietly. "Mm, the park sounds fine." he replied, smiling softly as he looked over at Danny. "Is it close to here?"
Danny looked like he brightened up as soon as Alex agreed. "Yeah! Yeah, it is. Just like.. a block and a half-ish." He looked back over at Alex, his face scrunching up into a grin.
Alex smiled again. "Alright, then…let's go."
"Fuck yeaa…" Danny mumbled softly, subconsciously picking up his pace a little bit.
Alex sighed faintly, having to nearly speedwalk to keep up. "Could you slow down?" he asked. "I have tiny legs compared to you."
Danny paused in his tracks. "Shit. Yeah, man, sorry, sorry." He laughed a little, trying to walk a little slower for Alex.
Alex laughed a little, catching up. "Yeah. I have to take like two strides for every one of yours. You speeding up is not helpful."
He dropped his hands away from his neck, sticking them into his pockets. "Almost forgot how short you are, man." Danny joked, lightly kicking a crushed can out of his path.
He stuck his tongue out. "Not short." he grumbled, narrowing his eyes faintly and then laughing a little.
"I mean, like- in relation to me? Yeah you are, brother." Danny resisted the urge to pat Alex's head. "Kinda short."
Alex wrinkled his nose grumpily. "Am not." he insisted.
Danny threw his hands up in defeat. "Alright, man, alright, man. You're like– average.. sized.. or somethin'." He snorted a little, walking onto the semi-grassy lawn of the park. Well- about as grassy as it got in Dog City, which is to say.. not very. Though the grass that was there was a dulled green and cropped short.
He stuck his tongue out again for a moment, a faint smile tugging at his lips as he looked around curiously.
