"On the mountain? Don't be. I was stupid," Anah said, caressing Elina's cheek and wiping away a small tear.
"On the mountain? Don't be. I was stupid," Anah said, caressing Elina's cheek and wiping away a small tear.
"No, about our parents. They had no right to send you away."
Anah looked away. "Yes, they did… I was dangerous. They were doing what was right."
"For who? You? Me? Them? The kingdom? I've felt like a piece of me was missing ever since you left. I thought it was filled when I found Liam, but…I still felt empty."
Anah drew the cold from her fingertips into her chest so she could gently cup Elina's cheek without it being too cold for her. "Well, I'm here now, for what it's worth."
"You are here. And I'm not gonna let you go again. I promise."
Anah laughed. "Diddo." She hugged her sister tightly.
Elina loved the hug. She couldn't remember the last time she received a loving hug.
"There wasn't a day on the mountain that went by and I didn't think of you. I just prayed that you would be safe," she whispered.
"Well, I'm safe, aren't I? And I'm getting married in a few days."
"Of course! I nearly forgot!" Anah exclaimed. "You're getting married!"
"And… I want you to be my maid of honour. Will you be?"
"Oh, Elina, of course, I'll be your maid of honour," Anah said happily, cupping her sister's cheek.
"Good, because I wouldn't actually have a maid of honour if you said no."
Anah couldn't help but laugh. She missed this life more then she knew.
"We need to get you fitted, get your look sorted out… Omigod how could I forget. You need a room."
"What's wrong with my old room?"
"Um… It's kinda… Not a room anymore."
"What is it?" Anah asked, tilting her head in inquiry.
"Uh… A future nursery?"
Anah deadpanned. "Are you…"
"Heavens no!" Elina laughed. "But, you know…gotta have heirs someday."
"God, don't do that!" Anah sighed with relief. "You almost gave me a heart attack!"
"Why? You wouldn't be the one birthing them," Elina smiled. "I'd be a mother and you'd be an aunt."
"Exactly! You'd be a mother!" Anah replied. "My baby sister…" she added with a sly grin.
