Joy wrapped her arms around him, pulling him closer.
“I was so afraid…” she whispered. “I was terrified you’d hate me. I didn’t know what I would do if you began to hate me…”
Joy wrapped her arms around him, pulling him closer.
“I was so afraid…” she whispered. “I was terrified you’d hate me. I didn’t know what I would do if you began to hate me…”
Bryce kissed her forehead gently. “Never. I will never hate you. Just… Maybe don’t go drinking again?” he suggested softly.
Joy nodded slowly, closing her eyes with a gentle sigh.
“I won’t,” she promised. “Not without you. I’m sorry.”
“Okay. Good… Now, what do you say about a quick shower and then breakfast, hm?” Bryce asked, smiling over at her.
Joy perked up immediately.
“A quick shower?” She looked up at him innocently. “That doesn’t sound very nice.”
Bryce snorted and pecked her lips before climbing out of bed. “Are you really up for that right now? Because I can certainly lengthen it out for you…”
Butterflies began swimming her stomach and she swallowed, cheeks turning pink.
"I am," she said almost immediately before clearing throat, trying not to sound so eager. But why wouldn't she? Why wouldn't she be? "Please and thank you?"
(If we skip, I am not it. I'm saying that right now.)
(Oof. Fine.)
Bryce chuckled softly and bent down to scoop her up. He wrapped her legs around him as he pressed a lingering kiss to her lips, making his way toward the bathroom.
“As you wish,” he murmured against her, the door shutting softly behind them.
A while later, Bryce was drying out his hair with a towel, having just finished getting dressed. He smiled over at Joy, who was still getting her own clothes on. It was still amazing to him that they’d figured things out, that they were finally back together again. Things were as they should be, and nothing could change that.
At first, Joy was sitting, trying to find her bearings. Bryce was just so good at leaving her speechless and completely blank. No one could satisfy her as well as he could. She wanted him forever.
Finally, she snapped out of it, standing up so she could put her clothes on. She was so happy Bryce forgave her, that he welcome her back in his arms like she’d never been polluted. She didn’t deserve him, but she wanted to keep a hold of him.
Joy swore she was going to control herself. She wasn’t going to betray Bryce again. She didn’t want to see his tired face again. She’d be the joy in his life, like her name.
While she was dressing, she felt eyes on her and turned to see Bryce watching her with love in his eyes. She turned pink before pretending she hadn’t caught him and continued to put her clothes on, slowly, making sure to make the act a little sexier.
Bryce’s eyes darkened slightly as she purposely slowed down. That girl… Gosh, what was he going to do with her?
When she had finished, he walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. “What should we do for breakfast? Or rather… brunch…”
Joy’s hands reached out to pat his cheek lightly, a wide smile on her features, knowing she’d done a great job at teasing him. She leaned back against him, closing her eyes at the warmth that spread through her.
“I want to have some chicken fried rice,” Joy said rather dreamily. “Without the green onions. What about you?”
“That sounds perfect. How about you make it, and I’ll assist you,” Bryce suggested, kissing her cheek before pulling away. “I can grab you pots and pans, or whatever else you need.”
“I’ll look after the chicken, you can cut the veggies?” Joy looked at him, widening her eyes. “That works.”
Bryce smiled at her softly before opening the door. “Sounds like a deal. After you, m’lady,” he chuckled, gesturing toward he door.
Joy laughed and walked out sassily, flipping her wet hair over her shoulder.
“Why, thank you, young gentleman!”
Bryce chuckled and followed her out and to the kitchen. “All right. Which vegetables do we need, and how small should I chop them up?”
"I need carrots, bell peppers–the green ones, and two pieces of garlic," Joy paused. "Cut the carrots into small cubes. I just need one carrot cut. And the one bell pepper can be cut just once, too."
She stopped walking, turning around to look at Bryce. It had been just one day, and they'd become comfortable with each other again. Biting her lower lip, Joy walked over to Bryce, stood on her toes, and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Bryce smiled down at Joy and rested his hands in her waist. “Hey, beautiful… What’s on your mind?” he asked softly, kissing her forehead.
Joy sniffled, digging her head in the crook of his neck.
"I'm just… really grateful, you know?" she whispered. "I'm so lucky to have you."
“I’m glad you’re happy,” Bryce murmured, wrapping his arms around her and holding her tightly. “You are my favorite person in the world…”
"I'll work hard to be the joy in your life," Joy promised, loving his strong arms around her waist. "I won't let you down again."
“You are my joy… My pride and joy, the love of my life… My princess… I know how much it hurt you that you did what you did. Everything is forgiven,” Bruce murmured into her hair.
Joy smiled, tears leaking from her eyes. He was perfect… how could anyone be so perfect?
“Thank you, Bryce…” she whispered. “I love you so, so much… you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
“I love you too, babe,” Bryce whispered to her, hugging her close. “So much…”
Joy sighed in content, resting her head on his shoulder, wanting to stay in that same position forever. There was no other place she wanted to be besides in his arms.
Unfortunately, her stomach decided to be an idiot. It growled loudly.
