"Ice skating, roller skating, skateboarding? Specifics, please." Hazel hoped it would be roller skating.
"Ice skating, roller skating, skateboarding? Specifics, please." Hazel hoped it would be roller skating.
"Roller skating actually, I can't do the first and I'm and absolute horror at the third." Lexi clarified, sensing her hope that it would be that.
Hazel's face lit up. "My lord, seriously!? I love roller skating!"
"Really, I thought you hoped that it was ice skating." Lexi was shocked, thinking that she may have had to come up with another idea.
"Ice skating looks nicer, but roller skating is my thing. I'm on a roller derby team!" Hazel exclaimed
"Really, I didn't even know that. Is it painful?" She asked.
"Only when you break your tailbone…or wrist. I've done both."
Lexi cringed hard at the words even though they weren't descriptive. "Oh god."
(This is true, actually. I'm on a derby team and I've broken my wrist once and my tailbone twice)
"My tailbone isn't totally healed either… Sorry," She apologised, seeing the other cringe.
(It's true that I'm also physically grimacing at two non-descriptive words)
"It's fine. I'm just… thinking about it and it's not out of my head." Lexi said, a smile creeping up on her face.
(oof, sorry)
Hazel smiled back. "Well, I hate to end it here, but I do have to go. I look forward to Friday or Sunday, whichever it is."
"Me too." She said, walking her to the door. Before Hazel left, she stole a quick kiss and opened the door.
After their quick kiss, Hazel booped Lexi's nose and left.
Lexi smiled and rubbed the part of her nose that Hazel touched before leaning back against the door.
Time skip
It was Friday. Hazel couldn't do Sunday due to earlier plans. There was a good half hour before she had to meet Lexi at the skating rink. She left early, nerves starting to get to her.
Lexi sat in her car for a nice thirty minutes, debating whether she should go in and wait for Hazel when it was the time or meet her in the parking lot. After another five minutes of thought she chose the former and went inside to the building, taking her skates along with her. She had a pair of inline skates sitting in the back of her closet waiting to be used again. She placed them on and waited for another 25 minutes which was the time that they should meet.
On the curb, Hazel put her skates on and skated to the rink, knowing it would take longer. Within 5 minutes she was there, not knowing what to do. Did she wait? Was she supposed to go inside and wait?
Lexi paced around with her skates on and looked out the windows, seeing that Hazel was also already there. She opened the door and welcomed her. "Hey!" She waved over, moving towards her.
"Oh, hey!" Hazel looked up and went towards Lexi. "How are you?"
"Good, what about you?" She asked, taking her hand and leading her to the rink.
"I've been okay, I guess. Excited, too!" She ended on the positive note. She skated inside, waiting for the other to put her skates on.
Lexi tightened her skates to be ready for use before jumping down to the rink. "You ready?"
"Ready," She responded and jumped into the stream of people.
Lexi followed her and tried to catch up. She was a bit rusty and wasn't as fast as she used to be and a bit wobbly in her motions.
Hazel slowed down and did a 180 so she could skate holding Lexi's hands. "Are you good?" She asked, seeing her companion wobble.
