"I don't want anyone else. It might seem better at first but then I'll just suck you into the tornado of my life and I refuse to subject anyone to that."
"I don't want anyone else. It might seem better at first but then I'll just suck you into the tornado of my life and I refuse to subject anyone to that."
"What if I want to be sucked in, so I can pull you out?" asked Rio.
"Can't pull out someone that can't be saved. And also doesn't want to be saved."
"Everyone can be saved. And I think that last part is a lie."
"You don't know that." She glanced up, just enough to meet his eyes.
"I don't… but I hope to find out."
"I can't let you do that, I'll ruin you. Ruin what small peace you have."
Rio sighed. "Fiona please…. I want to help. I don't care about the cost.
"I guess you leave me no choice." It was rare she had to use her powers in the way she was about to but he left her with no other options. She powered up a light beam and shot him. It wouldn't hurt but it did push him out of the apartment. She rushed to the door. "I'm sorry Rio but I refuse to hurt anyone else." She offered a broken smile before closing the door and locking it.
Rio leaned against the wall in the hall, gaping at her. Finally he sighed. "Believe it or not you've already accomplished that.." he said sad;y/
She laid her forehead against the door and broke down, sobbing loud enough for anyone outside to hear. She shut everyone out of her heart, forcing them behind a barrier that never came down.
Rio felt tears well up when he heard her sobbing. I hope someday you'll let me in…
She hated the fact that this wasn't what she wanted. "Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Get out of my head!" She fell to her knees, praying that the voices would leave her alone.
Rio knew he'd been kicked out and that he should leave, but he couldn't not whaile she sounded like she was literally breaking apart.
"Please…I don't want to be alone anymore…why do you make me do this?" She whimpered, her words mixing with her sobs.
Rio came up to the door. "Fiona… I'm still here… If you need it…"
Her fingers rested on the lock but her mind wouldn't let her undo it. It took a minute but she gathered her strength and undid the lock before collapsing again, sobbing into her hands.
Rio carefully tried the door. Opening it he soon had Fiona in his arms murmurring that it be ok.
The voices rejected him, trying to force him out again but her heart was already so broken, she couldn't bring herself to move.
Rio couldn't help tears welling up as he tried to comfort her, eventually resorting to sining a lullaby in the language of the sea.
It was like her heart stopped to listen. She couldn't help it, she was a sucker for a good singing voice. Her tears slowed slightly, almost pausing to hear.
Rio smiled sadly, and kept sining until the song was done, but he didn't stop there, he kept going, switching seamlessly to a love song.
She wiped her now tear stained cheeks before glancing up at him with a water smile.
Rio kept singing, gladthat it was helping.
Her heart wanted to listen, to let go, to love him, but her mind wouldn't let her. And just the thought of it, being a prisoner of her own mind, made her gaze dropping again, her face falling.
