"Most humans aren't like us," Marin said. "They usually stay in the same place they were born their entire lives, never exploring the world."
"Most humans aren't like us," Marin said. "They usually stay in the same place they were born their entire lives, never exploring the world."
"That's weird… I'd get super bored! You'd never get to see anything exciting!" Kit insisted, confused. "You gotta explore to see the fun stuff!"
"Mhm, I agree." Marin said, "But not everyone wanted to see the exciting things in life."
"Why not? Wouldn't they get sad and lonely and bored?" He asked.
"Well, their families all stay in the areas too," Marin pointed out. "People just focus on themselves."
"I guess that makes sense… what do they even do all day, though? Do they have stuff at home?"
"Mhm," Marin confirmed. "They work on the farms, or for family stores."
"Mm… I'd still get bored, but to each their own, I guess. They enjoy doing that?"
"As much as one could, I suppose. Some don't, but they stay anyway for family." Marin let out a small breath. They'd known people like that.
"That's kinda sad… don't people wanna do what makes them happy?" He asked.
"Some people are content with what's safe." Marin let out a small hum. "They don't want excitement."
"Mm… what about you? Did you like staying where it's safe, or do you like exploring better?"
"Mm… I like exploring more," Marin said after a moment. "If I didn't explore, I wouldn't have met you." They ruffled Kit's hair, smiling.
Kit smiled as well and flushed a bit, seeming to enjoy his hair being tousled. "Y-Yeah… it was definitely nice to meet you."
"Indeed." Marin held the boy close, still playing with the boy's hair some.
Kit closed his eyes and trilled softly, enjoying the petting and attention. "When do you wanna get going again?"
"I think in the morning is a good idea, since it's getting late now." Marin hummed some as Kit trilled, holding the small boy close.
"Sounds good to me… it'll probably storm again tonight." Kit sighed and held tighter to Marin, seeming uneasy.
""I figured…" Marin held Kit close, rubbing his back. "I'll be here the entire time though, okay?"
Kit nodded a bit and huddled closer, curling in on himself. "O-Okay… it'll… it'll be fine. I'm fine."
"You'll be okay," Marin confirmed. "I've got you…"
Kit nodded again, drawing in a couple of strained, shaky breaths. "It'll probably be starting soon, s-so…"
Marin nodded once, holding Kit close to their chest.
"Do you think you want to try to get some sleep before that?"
"M-Maybe that's a good idea, yeah… sounds… sounds good to me…" He closed his eyes and yawned, holding a bit tighter to Marin.
"I've got you…" Marin hummed softly to help calm the boy in their arms, moving to lay them down.
