Julia noticed that he was calming down. After a couple more seconds, she pulled back. "Are… Are you okay?" she asked hesitantly. He'd kissed her back, she thought, but she wasn't quite sure.
“Yeah,” Lukas said, a bit breathlessly. That was amazing, is what he wanted to say, but the words wouldn’t come out, as much as he wanted them to. Hesitantly, he reached out and brushed a piece of Julia’s hair back, his hand lingering a few more moments than necessary on her cheek
Julia blushed furiously. "I… I read somewhere that holding your breath stops panic attacks. I wasn't sure if it would work," she admitted shyly, lowering her hands slowly from his face.
Lukas smiled softly at Julia, catching her hands with his own as they lowered from his face. “You know,” he said, rubbing the back of her hand with his thumb. “You’re pretty cute when you blush.” Lukas shyly met her eyes, a tiny bit nervous of her reply.
"T-Thanks," she stammered shyly. His eyes locked with hers and her breath caught in her throat suddenly. "So, you don't mind that I… kissed you?"
“Not in the slightest,” Lukas said softly, his hands still holding hers. How can she be so pretty? Then the voice came back, ruining his mood. Don’t get used to it. You’ll both probably die before you get to have a real relationship.
She smiled softly. "Good. I wasn't sure how you'd take it… It just kinda hit me, you know?"
“Yeah,” he said softly. “I get what you mean.” He’d get those kind of ideas all the time, but he was too anxious to actually act on them.
"We should get going. Effie is probably looking for us," she pointed out, not moving.
“I agree,” Lukas said, not moving. Suddenly Effie burst into the room, looking like she had run a mile. He jumped, not expecting the entrance.
“There you two are! I have been looking for you simply everywhere! Now, we must be going, or we’ll miss the other Reapings.”
Julia jumped as well, coincidentally into Lukas's arms. She relaxed when she saw it was only Effie. "Alright, Effie," she replied to the frivolous woman. "We'll be just a second."
Lukas held Julia, and glanced at Effie before returning his gaze to Julia. “Yeah, we’ll be right up.”
Effie huffed. “Well, alright. We’re on floor 12. Be up in 10 minutes, or I’ll send Haymitch down.” With that being said, she turned and went to the elavator, her heels clicking loudly.
(Wouldn't they be on floor 12? Just saying.)
Julia raised her eyes to meet his. "Do you want to go now, or…" She bit her lip, unsure of any other available options.
(sorry! my minds been a bit frazzled lately)
Lukas’ is eyes dropped down to Julia’s lips for a moment, and then back up to her eyes. They look soft and kissable… Now’s not the time. “We can go now, since Effie’s already went up, if you want.”
She noticed his gaze shift for the briefest moment to her lips and she blushed. "A-Alright," she stammered shyly.
“Okay,” Lukas smirked a her, then began to lead them to the elevator, holding her hand. That blush on her cheeks is cute.
Julia followed him, her heart racing anxiously. She slowly laced their fingers together as they walked.
Lukas gave Julia’s hand a gentle squeeze as he requested the elevator. His heart was beating faster than normal, and he was sure she could see the blush burning on his cheeks. Could the elevator be any slower?
"They can make trains that shoot faster than the speed of light, but they can't make elevators arrive any faster," Julia thought aloud, shaking her head slowly.
Lukas let out a short laugh, and glanced over at her. “At least we’re here together, yeah?” he smiled at her.
"Yeah," she replied, looking over and meeting his gaze. He's so nice… She returned his smile as well and rubbed her thumb with his.
The elevator dinged, and Lukas pulled Julia in, a smile on his face. The doors closed shut, and the lift started to slowly move up.
"Oh!" Julia tripped a little when he pulled her, and she stumbled forward against his chest, looking up into his eyes. She blushed furiously. "Oh, I… I, uh– I'm sorry…"
Lukas’ hands jumped to Julia’s waist, steadying her. “Oh, um, it’s quite alright,” he said, slightly stuttering. Only then did he realize how pretty the blush on her cheeks made her look. “Um, did you know that, uh, that blush makes you look, ah, pretty? I mean, um, prettier than you already look, that is. Cause you were pretty before the blush, oh, I’m rambling, I’ll stop.” Let’s just say the blush on Lukas’ cheeks weren’t just from embrassment now.
Julia blinked in surprise. "You… You think I'm pretty?" she asked shyly, her gaze locking on his. "N-No one has ever told me I'm pretty before… Thank you."
