(Do you want me to be Portia?)
(Do you want me to be Portia?)
(Sure, unless you don't want to be)
(Okie)
Portia shook Lukas' hand with a blinding smile, and he wasn't sure that teeth could be that white. "Nice to meet you, Lukas,"
"And you as well," he replied politely, retracting his hand. Portia's outfit seemed senseless, bright colors and patterns thrown together with not even a second thought.
Julia looked from Portia to Cinna. Never had she seen two people who were more different standing side by side. Cinna smiled warmly at her. It was more of a reassuring smile than anything. A 'we're going to get through this, and it's going to be alright' smile.
“So, what’re your plans for us tomorrow?” Lukas asked somewhat nervously, hand tightening around Julia’s waist. He wasn’t too sure about wearing only coal dust in front of the whole Capitol.
Cinna looked between them. "What are your ideas?"
Julia was a bit stunned. Tributes didn't have a say in mostly anything their stylists did.
“We’d love to include the tributes’ opinion in the design of the clothes. We want it to be personable for your District, and not another outfit.” Portia stated, crossing her arms, which looked difficult in her extravagant outfit.”
“Could we possibly not wear only coal dust…?” Lukas’ voice trailed off as his cheeks flushed, vividly remembering that revealing year.
Julia nodded in shy agreement. Two of her sisters had done that…
Cinna smiled. "That was off the table from the start."
Lukas let out a breath. “Good. Then other than that, I don’t really care. I just want more than half my skin to be covered,” he turned towards Julia. “What about you?”
Portia nodded. “Noted. It is our top priority for our tributes to feel comfortable.”
Julia nodded quickly in agreement. "Yes. Thank you."
Cinna smiled. "Well we do have a few ideas."
Portia nodded excitedly, bouncing up and down slightly. “Oh, yes! They’ll certainly cause a spark at the parade!”
Lukas quirked an eyebrow. “A spark?”
Cinna nodded. "Hopefully a big enough spark to get you sponsors."
Julia bit her lip. "What are you talking about?"
"We're not thinking about coal. We're thinking about what you do with it," he stated.
“Mine it?” Lukas asked, thoroughly confused. He didn’t think that walking around in big clunky mining outfits was that big of a fashion statement.
Portia facepalmed, shaking her head slightly. “Come on now, be smart. Spark? Coal? Connect the two,”
"Burn it," Julia whispered. Her grip tightened ever do slightly on Lucas.I
Cinna nodded. "Exactly."
Lukas stayed quiet, contemplating what tomorrow would feel like being on fire. Surely it’s fake fire?
Portia clapped her hands, disturbing the silence. “Well, it’s getting late. Why don’t you two head up to your rooms? They’re right on floor 3, you can’t miss them.”
Julia nodded slowly. "Okay… Let's go, Lucas…"
Lucas took Julia’s hand and started to lead her to the elevator, lost in thought about tomorrow. A bundle of nerves started to tangle in his stomach, and he made a reminder in his head to take a pill later.
She gently squeezed his hand and followed his lead to the elevator. "I'm just glad it isn't coal dust," she whispered once Haymitch and the stylists were out of earshot.
“Me too,” Lukas laughed quietly. “Not too keen on showing the entire Capitol my junk on live television.” He playfully bumped her shoulder, a small smile plastered on his face
She giggled softly. "That's one way to put it…"
