Christopher narrowed his eyes. "I made a mistake leaving you, Eve. But I'm here now."
Eve backed away, pulling Rowan with her as she went. "Leave us alone!" she demanded. "Please!"
Christopher narrowed his eyes. "I made a mistake leaving you, Eve. But I'm here now."
Eve backed away, pulling Rowan with her as she went. "Leave us alone!" she demanded. "Please!"
Rowan stumbled a bit when Eve tugged on him, but he tried his best to stand his ground. "Just get lost, man. We've got more important things to do than standing around talking to you."
(Bump)
Eve swallowed nervously as Christopher eyed her car. "What, did you two go shopping?" he teased. "Cute."
"What part of 'get lost' do you not understand?" Rowan asked sharply, growing more irritated as Christopher continued to ignore him. "Our lives don't concern you. Go away."
"Nah, yours doesn't," the male remarked. "Hers does."
"Leave me alone!" Eve demanded. "Please! Don't you have anything better to do?"
Rowan huffed and glared at Christopher. "Just go away. Move on, geez. Don't you think it's kind of pathetic to be so obsessed with your ex girlfriend's life? She doesn't want you around, so leave."
Christopher rolled his eyes. "Fine, but you'd better start answering my texts, Eve baby."
"I'm not your baby," Eve shot back, shuddering at his comment. "Go away!"
"She doesn't have to do anything. Get out of here." Rowan insisted, keeping close to Eve so that Christopher couldn't approach her. He definitely didn't want to let him get close.
Christopher glared at Rowan. "The new boyfriend is protective… I must say, at least you have a type, Eve."
"Shut up, please!" Eve begged, glaring daggers right back at him.
Rowan glared back as well, choosing not to speak. He'd made his point, and saying anything else might only aggravate the situation further. All he could do was hope that Christopher would get bored or give up so he would get lost.
Eve shook her head, having enough of the nonsense. "Come on, Rowan," she muttered, taking his hand and pulling him toward the door of their apartment.
Surprisingly, Christopher let them go.
"Eve, the kittens…" Rowan murmured back, trying not to focus too much on Eve holding his hands. "They're still in the car. I don't want to leave them there… what if he tries to hurt them?"
Eve's eyes widened. "Shit," she breathed. "Right. I'll get them. You unlock the door."
"I don't want you to go back alone…" Rowan replied softly, subconsciously holding a bit tighter to Eve's hands. "He might try something. We need to make sure he goes away… should we call the police?"
Eve noted how he gripped her hands tighter, and she blushed a bit. "Uh, n-no. It's fine. I promise he won't hurt me. He's never wanted to hurt me. He just wants attention."
"But still… he's invading your privacy, and he makes you uncomfortable." Rowan insisted. "Maybe he's gone by now, and we can go ahead and get everything inside, yeah?"
Eve nodded and inhaled sharply. "Yeah. He's probably gone. Let's go back out."
Rowan nodded as well and hesitated before following Eve back out to where the car was.
Eve looked around and sighed with relief. "He's not out there, and his car is gone. Let's go."
"Alright… good. You grab the kittens and I'll grab the cat tree to start with. I can come back to get the rest." Rowan opened the trunk to pull out the box fit the cat tree.
Eve nodded and opened the car door to see Bean and Nollie looking up at her with wide eyes. "Oh, my lovelies," she cooed, scooping the kittens into her hands. "I've got you." She looked over at Rowan and arched her eyebrows. "You're sure you don't need help?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine… just make sure they're alright." Rowan adjusted his hold on the box so that most of the weight was on his good wrist and started towards their apartment.
Eve nodded, stroking the kittens' soft fur as they meowed together. "They're wonderful," she answered, holding the door for him. "Are you sure?" she asked again.
Rowan nodded and set down the cat tree. He headed back out to get the rest of the stuff, and he seemed to be avoiding putting any weight on his injured wrist now. It was hurting from carrying the cat tree, and he didn't want to make it worse.
