(asdfghjhgf omg I'm so sorry, I thought I'd sent my response–)
James looked over Mara as he fell quiet, turning her over in his hand.
"I still don't believe you, you know. You're obviously not a person." He frowned some, glancing to the wall and the picture he knew was covering the hole in the wall.
(It's ok)
Mara glared up at her captor, tempted to stand up but she didn't want to give him an excuse to knock her back down. “I am a person. I’m just not a giant like you.” she said firmly. “Is an Owl more of a bird than a Sparrow to you?”
"They're birds, but I'd never call a sparrow an owl. That seems to be exactly what you're trying to do." James moved his thumb back on top of Mara's stomach, keeping her down just in case. He didn't like how she glared at him.
“It’s not.” Mara said, gripping his thumb in an attempt to try to keep him from pinning her. Though chances were she would never be able to move his finger. “I’m saying that I’m just a person like you are. Not that I'm like you. We’re similar but not the same.”
"See, that's where I disagree. We're too different. You'd be surprised. I'm sure if I did some testing…" James trailed off, looking over Mara with a much more critical eye now. He kept her pinned with his thumb, not letting up.
“Just because I'm smaller than… What do you mean by testing?” Mara asked uncertainly, not liking the way he was looking at her.
"Well, since you can't tell me what you are, why don't I just figure it out for myself?" James smirked some as he thought, moving to stand again.
“But I did tell you.” she insisted, feeling very nervous as he smirked at her and moved again. “What… What are you going to do to me?” Mara asked.
'Well, it depends on how much you're going to co-operate with me." James moved towards the kitchen, letting his hand drop and sway at his side as he held Mara in a loose fist.
Mara shrieked a little at the action, feeling her stomach churning from the rough back and forth motion. She knew chances were he wouldn't drop her but she still tried to grab one of his fingers to steady herself. “I think I’m gonna be sick.” she warned a little weakly even though she wasn't sure if he cared or heard her.
If James heard, he didn't give any indication, and he most definitely didn't stop. He left Mara like that as he looked around the kitchen, humming some to himself. He came up with an empty jar, looking between it and Mara for a moment.
Mara gasped for breath as she felt him stop swinging her around, though the room continued to spin for her. She shivered as her mind started conjuring up different possibilities of what he might do to her. Forcing her eyes back open, she looked around and tried to come up with a plan to escape.
James lifted Mara up, then, loosening his hold on her and letting her drop into the jar. He sat her on the counter, looking through the 'tools' Darius had to see just what he could do to Mara.
Mara grunted softly as she landed in the jar, though she didn't move much until her glass cage was set down. It was a bit slick but she managed to stand and started looking at the glass. She was still determined to get away from him.
The jar wasn't very tall, and if Mara had her hook she might be able to climb out. James had his back to Mara for the moment, looking through a drawer on the other side of the kitchen.
Mara glanced over at him and almost smirked. She never left her home without her bag, and she always made sure to pack her hook as well. Perhaps in his fascination with her and her size, he had overlooked it. Luckily for her. Though she was aware of the possibility that if he noticed her attempt, he might take away her hook and bag. But the chance of being free of him and able to hide was too much to ignore. She kept a careful eye on him as her fingers instinctively grabbed the cool metal and strong string, pulling it out of her bag.
James didn't notice, still looking through Darius's drawers to see just what he had to work with. He hummed some to himself, quite happy with what he had done. He'd learn just what Mara was, since she refused to tell him.
Mara let out a quiet slow breath before she threw her hook. There was a soft ’klink’ as the metal tapped against the glass as it landed on the rim of the jar. She kept her gaze on him, however, to make sure he didn't notice and gave her grapple a quick tug to test the security of it before she attempted to climb out.
James did notice, head going up for a moment. He didn't bother looking over, though, figuring there was no way Mara could climb out of the jar. He hummed some to himself, closing his current drawer and moving to the next.
Mara froze when he reacted to the small sound but quickly continued climbing when he didn't check. Maybe he really was a fool… That or he sorely underestimated her because of her size. She managed to stay quiet as she reached the top and flipped her hook so she could safely climb down the outside of the jar.
James still didn't look over, sure in the thought he had Mara secure. He eventually straightened from the drawers, turning.
"Now- hey!"
Mara gasped when he called out to her like that and quickly slid down her string to the countertop. The second her feet touched the surface, she flicked and caught her hook before taking off in a run. If she just could get somewhere he couldn't reach her, she'd be safe… Or at least, safer.
It only took James a few steps to get over to the side of the kitchen Mara was in, but he stumbled some as he rushed. He slapped his hand against the counter as he grabbed it to keep himself from falling, trying to grab Mara with the other.
Mara pushed herself to run faster when she felt the strong gust of wind from behind her and the loud thud of his hand against the counter, clutching her hook tightly in one hand and the bundle of string in the other. She swerved sharply away from his other grasping hand and was now running towards the back wall against the counter.
"Stop!!" James tried to guess where Mara was running to, hand shooking out to the back wall before curling around to try to trap Mara with his arm.
"You little shit-"
