"Too bad he's not my type," Luca sighed stretching like a cat to take the cup. "I bet a romp in bed with him is like bedding a hurricane." She snorted and gave Casey an apologetic smile. She would never say the words "I'm sorry" out loud, Casey knew that she never would honestly mean it.
"Mm," Casey hummed, suddenly very focused on preparing her tea. She wasn't the best with this sort of stuff and generally choose to stay out situations like this. Especially ones between some of her best friends.
Luca hummed, sensing Casey's discomfort. Suddenly she bounded up, leaping from the fridge to the counter in front of Casey like a sprite. She hadn't spilled a drop of tea in the process. Sitting so she and Casey were on eye level again she spoke, "Did you hear about the Fienrich Museum robbery? It was on the news this morning." Her stormy eyes glittered in excitement.
Casey smiled at Luca. She knew what she was doing but that didn’t make her less greatful for it. “I did. That was quite the heist. I’m still trying to figure out who did it.”
"Wish it could have been us." Luca sighed, sipping her tea, she made a face then added more sugar. "Would have loved to get my hands on that old Hapsburg necklace. Ugh. Talk about a show stopper."
Sol opened the door to the apartment and strode inside. "Sorry I'm late. I was teaching a six hour martial arts training session for some piece of shit 14 year olds. I saw your message like only twenty minutes ago." She closed the door behind her and sniffed the air. "Tea? Ugh, do not bother pouring me a cup. You know I hate the stuff." The curls in her hair bounced like springs as she plopped into a chair. "What's the job this time?"
Cameron watched Sol walk by him and snarkily hung up the phone. When the door shut he huffed.
“Yeah, hey, hello, so nice for you to say hi.”
“With what we're about to pull off, you’ll be able to buy the Hapsburg necklace,” Casey said to Luca, smiling and taking a sip of her tea. She looked up at Sol. “Ah, you’ve decided to join us,” she said. “How lovely. And I’ll tell you the job when everyone is here.” Casey turned to Luca. “Remind me again why I hire her if she doesn’t like tea?”
Luca's eyebrows had flicked up in surprise. Buy? She mouthed to herself. What the hell kind of job is this?! Even if she did have enough money to buy that Hapsburg necklace, she would still steal it. That was half the fun of course.
Swirling her tea in her cup, she said, "I can't be the only eye candy on the team, Boss."
Lane had made a detour and gotten… Distracted in the candy aisle. "Hello!" He called out as he entered the home, his arms full of bags. "Sorry I'm late, the candy shoppe was having a sale and I bought a lot of candy."
"It's true, I'm a young flower. My youth adds onto my beauty." Sol flipped her hair and turned to Cameron. "Hello, Cameron, are you have a lovely day?" She added on a sarcastic smile. "Oh, hi Lane."
Casey chuckled a little in amusement. “Ah yes! Of course.” She looked up as Lane walked in. “Oh god Lane,” she muttered, setting her teacup down.
"Hiya Case! Like I said, I got a lot of candy! It was a really good sale." He said, halfheartedly trying to defend himself as he set almost all the bags on the table. The bags spilled out onto the table, it seemed there was less when Lane was carrying it.
Cameron gave Sol an annoyed look. “Just spectacular.” He didn’t say anything to Lane.
"Wait, don't forget the fact I can rip people's guts out with my bare hands. That would be another reason you hired me." Sol eyed the bags Lane was carrying and ignored Cameron. "Do you have whoppers? Can I have some?"
"No, they're mine. Only Casey gets some, she's nice." He hissed, ready to swat away anyone's hand that comes close to his babies.
“Casey’s not nice,” Casey scoffed, walking over the the table filled with candy. “And I’m offended you would think so, Lane,” she said, grabbing a hard candy from the table. She popped it into her mouth, winking at him.
"I'm nice too! Don't be a bully." Sol pouted. "I'm willing to trade stuff for some."
"Casey's nice to me, most of the time. Anyhow! What's the job description?" He asked, pulling out his laptop. If I'm here I might as well take some notes… Or work on my code, either or.
Luca flipped off the counter landing easily next to Lane. "Lane, my dear, may I have a candy?" She was already reaching for one a smile playing at the edges of her lips.
Lane slapped away her hand, a scowl on his face. "No, my candy. Plus, you didn't ask nicely." He said with a glare, he usually liked Luca… But not when she was near his babies.
"Casey didn't ask either! You're not being fair. Fine, when you need someone to punch someone in the face for you, don't expect it to be me!" Sol stuck her tounge out at Lane. "Anyway, what is the job? We're all here now, right?"
Cameron sighed into his cup. So much fuss over candy that could easily be bought at a Dollar Tree. He sipped the drink, deciding it needed more sugar. He rose off the wall and walked around the dramatic scene, grabbing a bag of sugar and forking in a few tablespoons.
Luca pouted, rubbing her hand. "Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine." She slumped ungracefully next to Cameron, her attention solely on Casey.
Cameron leaned against the counter after moving a couple feet away from Luca and sipping his tea. Much better.
