"Just a second, mister, I have to put my cookies on a plate too." She set them on a plate. "Now, let's go find Forrest."
"Just a second, mister, I have to put my cookies on a plate too." She set them on a plate. "Now, let's go find Forrest."
"I was waiting, don't worry." Apollo laughed, starting to walk. "Go ahead, lead the way."
They headed for the stairs. Ayala yelled down, "FORREST!!!"
Apollo chuckled, picking up one of the cookies to eat one. "She's not going to be uncomfortable, is she?"
"She's always uncomfortable if there's a human being within ten feet of her." Ayala went down the stairs. "FORREST! We brought you cookies!"
There was no response.
Apollo nodded, following her down the stairs. He kept up a little smile as they walked down the stairs.
"FORREST!" Ayala yelled. No response. She sighed. "Apollo, stay here. I'll go get her. Hold the cookies." She handed him the plate of cookies and scurried off into the labyrinthine basement, returning a few moments later, dragging a protesting Forrest by the arm.
Apollo was taken aback at her abruptness, holding both plates. He watched as she walked off, and smiled as she came back. "Looks like you found her."
Forrest grumbled something, but Ayala shushed her. "C'mon, Forrest, we brought you cookies." Taking the plate from Apollo, she offered them to Forrest.
Forrest gingerly took one and broke a piece off, putting it in her mouth, and setting the cookie back on the plate.
Ayala sighed. "At least take that one, Forrest."
Forrest took it.
Apollo kept quiet for a minute or so, smiling tenderly. He leaned back against the wall, trying to show he wouldn't hurt her. "They're really good, Forrest." He stated softly as he watched her.
Forrest's eyes flicked towards Apollo, and then she stuffed the rest of the cookie in her mouth, grabbed two more, and scampered off down the hallway.
Apollo smiled warmly, glancing over to Ayala. "She's cute." He stated simply, starting back up the stairs. "Is there a reason she's so shy? Or is she just that way?"
"She's always been shy."
"There's no reason behind it, though?" Apollo persisted, looking over his shoulder.
"Nah, she's just always been shy."
"Oh, alright." Apollo nodded, eating another cookie. "You want one of mine? I really shouldn't eat all of these."
"No, you really shouldn't," Ayala said, helping herself to another cookie.
"I mean, I want to. But I'm going to get addicted if you don't take them from me." Apollo continued to ramble a little.
"Well, now that's a tragedy. I swear she puts cocaine in the frosting or something."
Apollo choked on the cookie he was eating, laughing a lot harder than he should have. He managed to swallow, laughing still. "Why didn't you tell me I was going to get high by eating these cookies?" He laughed, still coughing a little.
"Darling, I don't think I would be able to tell the difference between normal Apollo and high Apollo." She smirked at him and shoved another cookie into her mouth.
Apollo laughed even harder, leaning back against the wall. "Mm, I'd be even worse, I bet. Though I don't plan to find out." He finally seemed to relax, not choking anymore. "Haven't been drunk either. So I can't help you with that either."
"Well, that's good."
Apollo let out a soft sigh, pushing off the wall. "Alright, well, what now?" He asked, picking up the last cookie.
Ayala swatted his hand away. "Oh no you don't. There are some people who haven't gotten them yet."
