(ah yes, another child to adopt)
Robert beamed at the little girl, bending down to hug her back. "Esme, look at you! You have gotten big!" He pulled away, looking at her face and rubbing a small spot of mud off her chin. "Oh Esme, the north was beautiful. I'll tell you all about it once we get inside, yes?"
He glanced at Victor and the creature, simply saying, "Yes, I have." He motioned for them to follow, taking up his luggage again and following his niece inside.

Victor looked from the running figure of Esme, to Robert, then back again. He inserted his hands in his pockets and simply strolled along, taking in the scenery. This reminded him of his old home, but much smaller, and without a gardener around. The family must live directly outside of London, Victor thought, as he had briefly woken up and seen them passing the Channel during their travels here. Esme brought back some painful memories for Victor, but he'd hopefully be able to stomach them and move on.

The creature followed hesitantly, not exactly wanting to intrude but also not wanting to be impolite by just standing around. He understood some social conventions, after all. When they were inside, there was the sound of a kettle running, some loud chattering from Esme, and an excited gasp as the tea kettle was apparently forgotten in favor of meeting Robert and his guests. A woman with warm olive skin and wide-set eyes entered the room, her face and hair the same shape and color of Robert's. However, the woman's hair was cut short and choppy, and she had deep brown eyes unlike Robert's hazel. She was also taller than Robert, certainly stronger. But they shared an unforgettable kindness in their eyes that could cause anyone to see them as siblings, which they were.

"Robert." Margaret smiled, and moved to embrace him. She'd missed him for so, so long. "How was your trip? Did you discover anything interesting? I can see Esme was right, there is a giant in this home, and a… well, skinny, er, whiny looking fellow. I'm sorry sir, Esmerelda can be quite coarse." she nodded to Victor.

"No offense taking, I was worse as a child. Um, may I sit down? It's been a long journey." he hoped he could meet this woman's husband soon, to discuss the possibility of getting a messenger down here for his brother.

(oh boy is victor in for a surprise-)

(I just want my characters to be either loveable angels, lovable bastards, unloveable angels or unloveable bastards. Is that so much to ask?)

"Maggie!" Robert exclaimed, pulling his sister close and squeezing her tight. He let her go. "My trip was wonderful, there were so many things to see. I… well, I discovered these two." He gestured to Victor and the creature.
He faced them, keeping one arm around Margaret. "Gents, this is my lovely sister, Margaret. Margaret, meet Victor Frankenstein and… well, I don't think the giant fellow has a name." He tapped his chin with his pointer finger a little awkwardly. "I'll explain things later, for now, I'm going to change and clean up. Do we all want to sit in the parlor?"
As much as he loved traveling, he believed he loved his sister more. She was an anchor when he had nowhere else to go, no one else to turn to. She reminded him of the things that mattered when he was stupid enough to forget. Even when they might've started the day fighting, it would always end with her forgiving him and braiding his hair, or the other way around. He gazed at her lovingly, taking his luggage back in his hands.
(as soon as I thought of the nickname Maggie I knew how wholesome I wanted this to be-)

(wholesome!!! yes!!! good sibling dynamics!!!)

"Go unpack, my wife will be here soon. She'll want to decide about the guest situation, whether they stay or… well, she can be strict sometimes, you know my Anna. I'll talk to her. Mr. Frankenstein, feel free to sit in the parlor, while I pour us some tea. I've left the kettle on far too long." she rushed back into the kitchen to deal with the boiling water whistling away, and Victor turned to find the parlor. "Wait, wife?" Victor asked, but Margaret was already gone.

"Robert, explain. What does she mean by, er, wife? I suppose that, well, er… if I'm not being rude that is-ow!" the creature had stomped on Victor's foot before he could continue. If Margaret had a wife, she had a wife, the creature didn't think it was that complicated. Apparently, Victor did.

"Ah, that Anna." Robert shook his head, chuckling. He watched her go, then turned to Victor when he heard his name. A quirk of a smile crossed his face when the creature cut him off.
"She has a wife, Victor," he shrugged. "Met her some ten years ago, and they got married. That's all there is to it. The parlor is over that way." he gestured in the general direction. "I'll see you momentarily."
He turned and dragged his things up the stairs, which was a little difficult, but soon he was in his room and setting his suitcase and leather bag on the bed. He changed out of his white captain's uniform and bathed, then put on a white shirt, a blue vest, and black pants. He let his hair down to dry, so it was a thick, damp mass that reached a little past his shoulders. He decided to unpack later but remembered he had something he forgot to send to Margaret. He rummaged through his leather bag and pulled out several pieces of parchment, a long letter he wrote describing all that Victor had told him when he was first found. Robert stared at it for a moment and sighed. Perhaps this could do the explaining for him.
He got all the pages stacked evenly together, then made his way back downstairs.
