Victor Frankenstein was a brilliant man. The genius he was, his death shook all who knew him. But what if he didn't die? What if he stayed on that ship, survived, and made it back to London with the Captain, Robert Walton, and managed to take responsibility for his mistakes? Or rather, mistake, in the form of his incredibly tall, incredibly smart, and incredibly lonely monster… son? Creation? that will have to be figured out later. In the meantime, a storm is brewing in London, and many less than savory characters may have to team up to defeat it.
So the main plot will be Walton and Victor, being buds with a bromance that may turn into a romance, Victor trying to be a good parent while recovering from hypothermia several times over, and the creature trying his best please just let him try his best-
Anyways this is for those who are at least somewhat familiar with the book Frankenstein, otherwise none of it will make sense. Other classic/gothic lit characters will appear, don't worry, I'll control all of them. You can play any character you please, but either Victor or Walton would be best if we're going the romance-bromance route.
Got it all? Cool, I'll go hide from my mistakes now, thanks very much.
Rules are:
Smut, if it happens, goes to DMs.
Gore, violence, swearing, and dark themes are a-okay by me.
No one liners! at least three sentences! Try to be descriptive, loves.
No OP characters please.
No assholery or tomfoolery.
Have fun!
(yeetings my friend. what is of the up?)
(I'm bored in class, so what the heck. May I?)
(Yeah why not also I hope your boredom goes away the public school system sucks. Anyways, who do you wanna be, what do you want from the plot, and could you understand any of my aimless rambling?)
(I kinda wanna be Walton, you seem to an expert in Victor Frankenstein characters. Plus I thought Walton could be the one to knock some sense into this man, and I'm in the mood to do that rn. I'm cool with it just being a bromance, but I'm not against it going further either. I do miss me some bros bein' bros doe. I might bring in Mina and Jonathon, maybe as a cameo or smth, idk. Also yes, I'm fluent in aimless rambling)
(I am no expert I'm just very horrible to this man although I'm starting to like him more now that I'm thinking about going to medical school. If it turns into a romance it does, but found family and bros bein bros is also very good. Also Mina? Jonathan? The only valid straight people? I would Love To See It. Feel free to bring them in! Also how do you feel about lesbians and werewolves in our found family situation because I have Ideas for Robert's sister and her presumably-husband. Or "husband" in this case.)
(Hahahhaaha honestly yeah I would be too. Lesbians and werewolves? Ooooooooooooohhh yis pls)
(Basically his sister cheated the system and got a whole wife, who is also a werewolf. And it's awesome, at least in my mind.)
(omg yes, I love it so much)
(Aww thanks! So we've got a good idea in mind, and some good characters, so we could begin I guess? I can write a starter, where do you want to begin?)
(uhh maybe the ship pulling into London? Is that good?)
(I will write my slightly nicer and a little bit bad brain Victor being… existing I guess I honestly think Victor is only about half as interesting as the creature.)
(I'm so not used to using he/him for the creature but I'm trying to sort of stick to canon here. The pronoun situation may change lol.)
As the ship pulled into port, cheers were heard from all the way into the captain's cabin of joy and relief. Victor stirred awake, still weak, but healing, and wondered what all the commotion was about. He said as much, and his creature, sitting in the corner glumly, told him the men were back home, they were happy to be home. "We're in Arkhangelsk, Archangel. Where the journey started, judging by the Captain's letters."
Victor sighed with a bit of mournsome relief. What was to become of this strange pair now? His creation would have to hide himself away from the place until sundown, and then maybe they'd be allowed safe passage into London, where the Captain had promised he had family that would keep them safe. But Victor, feeling some remorse, wondered how his creation would be treated. It was a difficult thing to process, all the possibilities and risks that the future held, and he was beginning to feel faint again.
"Do not fall prey to your illness now, creator. The Captain will presumably want to speak with us soon. We should be ready for him." the wretch claimed, a bit boldly for the first bit and then subdued for the rest.
(Bad starter I know but I always start very slow for some reason. I only bring like 7% to the table for starters tbh and then it's usually 43% or higher for everything else.)
(totally cool with that my dude :p)
(also me, who doesn't know much about being a sea captain-)
Organized chaos. That's what Captain Robert Walton liked to call it whenever they were docking into port. Lots of moving parts and bodies, loud shouts and commands being thrown all over the place. The usual excitement that came with chaos like this was tempered somewhat, however, by the solemn regret of not being able to do what Robert had originally planned with this trip. Instead, he'd taken in two unexpected guests and their story. Although, thinking about it, it wasn't a necessarily bad trade. Still, the regret was there.
After bringing the ship to port and setting the crew to their tasks of unloading the cargo and such, Robert went back to the captain's quarters. There were matters to be discussed.
He was glad to find the sickly man awake. What an awkward, one-sided conversation it would be if he wasn't.
"Frankenstein, yes? I'm glad your name is easy to remember," Robert said, opening the door. He took his hat from his head and acknowledged the figure in the corner with a cautious nod. He offered Victor a small smile. "As you might know, we've arrived in Arkhangelsk. It might be a few minutes before we can leave the ship, but do you think you are well enough to stand on your own?"
(it's totally fine my dude. Also, school is suddenly not boring anymore. At least, I have things to do. Just a heads up.)
(Good for you, dude! Take time for personal life over online life, I also might be busy on Sunday so watch out for that.)
Victor nodded, made a move to stand, but nearly hurled in doing so. He tried to stand again, and succeeded a bit more. However, he nearly fell on the first few steps. He was small, or at least smaller than Walton. Smaller still with how he'd nearly starved to death up in the cold north, and he'd had to borrow some of Robert's clothes to prevent him from freezing to death. Unfortunately, they had ended up being far too big for him, and he found himself tripping over the hems of the pants he'd been borrowing. He flustered, muttered out an apology, and continued walking over to Robert. "Thank you for your kindness to us, but I would like to talk about… well, I'll call it the final destination. I don't know if my creation and I can keep taking advantage of your kindness, we may have to leave. Quickly, even. It would be unwise to stay around this place, where the public could see… well, you know."
(Me: I have committed my obligatory "establishing Vic as a twink" of the day, thank you.)
(He's just,,, bastard litol man. I can't help but make him smol.)
(he is tho, we love the smol twink Vic)
(I mean yeah it is true. We do. Also I just realized Victor is like, 25 years old at most at this point in his timeline and I will use that to make this sad.)
(Like, seriously, Mary Shelley did the "tragic boy genius" trope to perfection but forgot to make it straightforward and when you realize how much trauma he has at this stage you get emotional. Idk.)
