Skylar was still sitting at her table, by herself, and reading her story when Revil walked in. Since she was reading, she didn’t notice him walk in, but she was in a fairly obvious place.
Revil ordered a bottle of water and an egg sandwich. He glanced around, spotted Skylar and walk/limped over.
“Hey Sky!” He called as he walked over.
Skylar glanced up from her reading to see Revil making his way toward her. She smiled and used a foot to carefully push out the chair across from her.
“Hey, Revil! Seat’s open if you want to sit,” she said, turning the screen of her phone off with her good hand.
Revil took the chair and sat down, grinning. “Thanks! How have you been? I haven’t seen you around.” He spied her sling. “Is that okay?”
“I’ve been pretty good. Really busy lately for some reason,” Skylar said with a shrug. “And my arm is fine. It hurts a little, but that’s probably obvious.”
Revil nodded. “That’s good. Busy is, anyway.” He grinned a bit. “Sorry to hear ‘bout your arm.”
“Yeah, I’m sure it’ll be fine soon. What about you? How’ve you been?” Skylar asked.
Revil grinned a bit more. “That’s the spirit. Oh, I’ve been fine. Thanks for asking.”
Skylar smiled at him again. “Good. That’s good. How’s the kitty?”
“The kit’s fine.” He hummed. “I went out so I can relax away from her constant pestering.”
Skylar chuckled. “She sounds like a handful.”
Revil chuckled softly with her. “She certainly is.”
"I had a cat growing up. Her name was Missy. She was a calico, and she got to be really old," Skylar remembered.
Revil tilted his head. “She sounds wonderful.”
“She was,” Skylar said softly, chewing on her lip a bit. “We had to put her down, though. Her body just wasn’t working correctly anymore.”
“Aw. I’m sorry.” He patted her hand. “Suffering through a loss is very hard.”
Skylar looked up and gave him a soft smile. “Yeah. It was a few years ago, but sometimes it just hits me, you know?”
Revil smiled back. “You’re welcome to pet my cat any time if that ever happens.”
“Oh. Um, thanks, Revil. I might take you up on that offer sometime,” Skylar said softly.
Revil smiled softly and warmly. “My door’s always open for you.”
Skylar blushed a bit and looked down at the table, a small smile playing on her lips. “Thanks,” she whispered without meeting his eyes.
Revil smiled a bit wider, glancing away. “You’re welcome, Sky.”
“I would say the same for you, but… I have a roommate,” Skylar said softly, chuckling a bit.
Revil laughed softly and nodded. “Gotcha. I understand.
Skylar smiled at him and took a sip of her drink. “So, what brings you here? I don’t think I’ve seen you come here before.”
