Along comes the weekend. Trianna shoots Melanie a text that says "Hey, meet me at that café! You remember the one, right?"
Medusa smiles at the text and replies, ”of course I remember. See you there soon.”
Even though she knows Trianna can't see her, she puts on a touch of makeup and perfume before grabbing a colorful but stylish pair of sunglasses and hair warp before heading out to meet.
Trianna grins, listening to the text before tossing on a dress that she knew was black; she forgoes makeup like usual, but finds her own perfume, mint and lavender, and puts that on before tossing on some black leather flats and grabbing her phone and wallet, stuffing them into the pockets on her dress and jogging over to the café. She makes it there at roughly the same time as Melanie.
“Trianna!” she calls out as she sees the familiar woman approaching. “It's so good to see you again.” she says sincerely.
Trianna makes the obligatory blind joke in return: "Well, I'd say it's nice to see you but it isn't - since I can't see."
She walks over and hugs the other woman tightly for a moment before starting to head towards the door to the café.
Medusa rolls her eyes at the joke, laughing lightly, but is caught off guard by the hug. It took her a hesitant moment before she returned it, a snake quickly taking advantage of the closeness and flicked its tongue at Trianna.
“Here. Allow me.” she offered, opening the door for her.
Trianna felt the whisper of something across her forehead but doesn't react, electing to simply think of what it might have been. Hair, possibly. Or maybe. . .
She gasps playfully then grins.
"My, aren't we feeling chivalrous today?" she teases, elbowing the other woman playfully before finding a table to sit at.
Medusa chuckled, barely moving from the playful nudge. “Just trying to help my friend.” she smiled, taking a seat across from Trianna.
Trianna smiles back. "Isn't that kinda what chivalry is? Helping out your friends and sometimes people you don't know?"
“I suppose it is. In a way.” she nodded. “I always thought it was just being polite and showing common courtesy. Something that seems to be in short supply. Not that I've actually been shown much anyway.”
"I mean, yeah. But it mainly only seems to apply to friends and family nowadays. Try and kiss the hand of a man or a woman that you've just met nowadays and you get a restraining order put on you." Trianna snorts. "As for being shown chivalry, nobody shows a woman with a physique like mine any form of chivalry. I'll show you chivalry, on behalf of both of us."
“Well, if that were the only case, it would still explain why I don't get shown any.” she scoffed lightly. “I can't say I would expect anyone to kiss my hand and I doubt anyone would want me to kiss them in any form. But you… I don't know what you mean about your physique affecting how you are treated.” Medusa admitted. “But I will show you chivalry too. Though I may be a little rusty.” she teased.
Trianna chuckles. "It was meant to be a humorous example. Besides - don't take this weirdly - I bet you're a great kisser, in any form of what could be classified as 'kissing.'"
"Oh, my muscles." she chuckles, standing up and flexing one of her arms. She'd managed to put on more mass over the week - both in muscle and in body fat - and looked beefier than before; the muscles in her upper arms looked like they were straining the skin very hard, and when she twists her back was corded with muscle. "People kinda get scared off when they notice I'm as buff as Popeye the Sailor."
"'Rusty,' huh? You seem to be rusty in a lot of things. I might just start calling you Rusty." she giggles.
Medusa raised a brow, feeling her face turning red. “Uhh… I admit I don't know how to take that. It's probably the first time anyone has said anything like that to me.”
“Oh! That.” she nodded. “I forgot where I was just now. Such a build, on anyone, would be something to admire back in my home.” she admitted. “I don't have the body type to show off muscles as you do but I am strong and agile.”
She chuckled, shaking her head. “Please don't. I just… I don't spend a lot of time around people.” she explains. “There have been many places where I am… was not welcome. For all I know I may still not be.” she shrugged.
Trianna laughs teasingly. "It's meant to be taken as a compliment, sweetheart. And while you're around me, it may not be the last."
"Yeah. In America, muscular women are very. . . unusual. Especially to my degree. A lot of men absolutely lose their shit when a woman beats them in anything." she snorts. "As for your body type - well, I wouldn't exactly know, but I'm sure it's just as wonderful as your personality. Which is to so, very wonderful."
"You are completely welcome here." she shrugs. "And really, since you're here, that's all that matters, no?"
“Alright.” she nodded. “Then thank you.” she smiled softly.
“Men would still act that way in Greece, I admit. But it would be different.” Medusa told her. “They would still appreciate your hard work to attain your physique and still call you beautiful.” Though her blush darkened at being called wonderful. “Th-Thank you. You are too kind to me.”
She smiled a little and nodded. “Yes. That's part of the reason why I came to this country. To try to put my past behind me and put some distance between me and the things I've done.”
(boop)
(Sorry!)
"You're welcome." she nods, smiling.
"Not ancient Athens or somewhere like that. But Sparta, I would be gourgeous, yeah." she snorts. "Oh don't be modest."
"Is it working?" she aks.
(It's ok)
“Yes, and no. Sparta would certainly but I think Athens might surprise you.” Medusa smirked. “After all, Athena was also a warrior so why wouldn't her city respect the build of a female warrior?” she pointed out.
She shrugged. “For the most part, yes. It does help a little. But as I said, there are… constant reminders that I can't get rid of. No matter where I am.”
"True, but if I remember right, ancient Athens didn't let women do too much. I wouldn't be allowed in the military, nor would I be allowed to vote. Just about the only things I could do were play in religious circles or have children, though since I would have been poor i would have to find some sort of work." Trianna sighs.
"Yeah, I suppose that would be the case." she nods.
Medusa sighed and nodded reluctantly. “You're not wrong. But there were still many things a woman could do. It wasn't as bleak as the history books make it seem. At least, I don't believe that it was.” she corrected, catching her slip-up.
She smiled a little at Trianna’s understanding. “I like to think that would be the case for a lot of people who are trying to move on.” she admitted.
Trianna notes the slip-up quietly. "I guess. But I'd want to be helpful besides as a sex toy or a food-machine or a religious puppet or anything like that."
"Even if it is the case, accept the reminders - but don't let them consume you." she chuckles.
“There were other jobs too.” she points out. “Weaving, for example, was very popular and practically considered an art alongside making painted pottery. Or hunting, I believe, was also mostly acceptable if you claimed to follow Artemis.”
“I try not to but some days, that is easier said than done.” Medusa chuckled, glancing upwards for a moment.
"Weaving is boring. As for hunting Im not a big fan of killing animals, if it's just for sport. If it's to put food on the table I'd hunt a lion with my bare hands, but that's beside the point." she chuckles.
A long pause.
"I get that." she says softly. "My parents may not have been the best but they certainly tried. I wouldn't be the woman I am today without them."
“Really? I… actually liked weaving for a while but I haven't had much opportunity to practice since I moved here.” Medusa shrugged. “Of course, not for sport. That just seems like something of a mockery of hunting to me.”
She chuckled with Trianna and nodded. “Well, I don't think there are many lions left roaming Greece, unless you meant a Namean Lion.” she teased.
“Oh? May I ask how you mean?” she inquired with an arched brow.
