"That is a crazy idea," He said lavishly. "Take only what you need…." Miles muttered, finding the main stone path to the town. "Don't you need everything you can get your hands on?"
He quieted down once he reached the town border, heading to another small courtyard-like area. There should be a good shop somewhere around here…
Emmeline followed quietly, trying her best not to draw attention to herself as they walked. She wasn't scared of being seen, it was just her instincts from living on the streets kicking in.
He looked around and beckoned Emmiline to follow him. "I think I know where the general shop is…" Miles went down a few paths to a small wooden building, heading on inside.
The guy there was welcoming, and Miles headed to the counter, pouring the rings out on the table. "I'd like to sell these." He stated plainly.
The man almost gawked, but kept to himself. "I'll buy what I can, I only have so much money…" And he handed all of his gold for only five out of the eight rings.
"Wow…that's a lot of money.." She mumbled, looking at the coins. She rocked on her feet and looked up at Miles, an impressed look on her face.
Miles smiled and grabbed the money off the counter. "Have a nice day," He turned around and walked out, smirking the entire time. Once he was out the door, he found a nice, cool shadow to hide himself under. "See, that's what you do… You sell it off so you aren't suspected as easily for stealing or whatever…." However, there have been instances where they randomly find out it's stolen….
Emmeline nodded, sitting down beside Miles. "Good tip. Also, how did you get that many rings, are they all stolen?" She looked around and started fiddling with the hem of her clothes, "Is there another store like that in this town?"
"Not all of them are stolen," He muttered lowly. "That would be just awful. Some I obtain 'legitimately'." Miles air quoted. "Like by winning fights or just buying with my great amount of gold…" He sat back and crossed his legs. "However, there are certain circumstances where they run away and I take their stuff…."
"Remind me to never challenge you to a fight," She said with a small chuckle, glancing over at him "I would lose quicker that you could say go and I wouldn't have anything that you could take once you won."
"Of course…" He muttered, standing up. "I'm feeling like taking the eggs from the nest tonight…" Miles said to himself, then brushed off the dirt. "In the meantime, though, let's get something to eat. I need more food than I eat for breakfast, and… Well, I have plenty of money for the both of us."
Emmeline nodded, standing up "Ok," She smiled slightly and rocked on her feet, waiting for him to lead the way to wherever they were going.
They headed to a small, nearby tavern with very few people.
Miles got some food and drink stuff and sat down at a small table. "What do you do all day? Just…. Wander around and… Beg?" He lowered his voice. She can't survive on nothing…
"Yes.." She said softly, starting to eat "I'll get an odd job every so often…or people will give me food so that I leave…" She looked up at him and continued to eat "I'm not the best at taking things from others.."
Miles stifled a deep laugh. "I could teach you, but you have to promise not to expose me." Why not? She could use the skill.
She smiled lightly, "Really? I mean I wouldn't use it much, but it would help," She nodded "I wouldn't expose you, I would never."
He glared at her. "You sure? You seem like the person who would." I can't really trust her that much…
"Miles, you've been nicer to me than anyone I ever knew, I'm completely sure that I wouldn't expose you." She looked at him and nodded "I promise,"
Miles sat back in his chair, folding his arms and rolling his broad shoulders. "…Nicer? You can't be serious…." That's something I haven't been as long as I exist…
She raised an eyebrow "Have you seen what I usually deal with? The only nice person I've ever met is my aunt, and even then she wasn't nice when my uncle was around. I'd say you are very nice."
Miles glanced around a little bit and ate the rest of his food. "Fine." A light red dusting of blush covered his face. "I'm 'the nicest person you've ever met' then." Oh well. People have their opinions.
Emmeline smiled, eating some more "Are you blushing?" She said, chuckling slightly, "Did I make you blush?"
"Enough's enough," He grumbled, standing to his feet. "Let's get out and teach you a few things of real living…" Blushing… What a joke… Miles rolled his eyes, totally oblivious to his own self.
"I did make you blush!" She said happily, clapping her hands and grinning. "Give me a few seconds, I need to finish quickly," She shoved the last of her food in her mouth before standing up and grinning again.
Miles growled once more, putting his hood over his head. She saw nothing…. Nothing!! He reassured himself, quickly getting out of town with her behind him. "First we have to wait until nightfall for this kind of thing… Timing is absolutely key."
She nodded and smiled, still thinking about earlier. "Ok, timing is key," She repeated to herself, looking around at the surroundings.
They headed back to the cabin, and he sighed. "So all we have to do is wait." Miles took his cloak off and all his other belongings, locking the leftover rings and his gold in a small chest. "I'll be out chopping wood or something. You can do whatever, but don't take any of my stuff, and…. Well, I'm not sure if you want to do this, but don't leave the cabin, or at least run off." He went out with an axe and went to the stump, cutting wood.
