Emmeline nodded and looked around, her stomach growling softly from the smell of the meat cooking. She ignored it and instead started humming again, debating whether or not to look and see if there was any more food in the bundle since she had a feeling Miles was going to eat most, if not all, of the meat.
"I think you should try to eat too," Miles said, flicking his head towards the pack. "If not you'll probably be in for a long day…" Or a bad one…
"Alright," She replied, standing up and walking over to the pack. She started looking through it for something to eat and she pulled out an apple, walking back to where she was before and flopping back down.
"…." Miles glared at her for quite some time. "I'm surprised you aren't sick of me yet," He said suddenly, turning the meat now and then.
"Why would I be sick of you?" She asked, taking a bite out of the apple and tilting her head to the side. She crossed her legs and took another bite.
"Well, you've had to put up with so much of my ridiculous stuff lately," He muttered, turning his food over again. Just saying…
She shook her head, "I'm not sick of you, and your ridiculous stuff I'm fine with, we'll just chalk it up to stress from being hunted and your injured leg." She polished off the apple and shrugged softly, "You'll have to deal with my ridiculous hormones and stuff soon,"
Miles just gave her a scowling look. "Sure… Sure I am…." He cooked the meat more before finally scooting back from the fire, taking a nice, large bite. It was nice and cooked but tasted a but bland overall. Better than nothing… He turned towards the river – with his back to Emmeline – and ate his food. She's just saying that….
She sighed and laid on her back, shifting around so that she was comfortable and one of her sides was near the fire so she would stay warm. Her soft humming continued and she found herself humming a old and well known song, one that most people could recognise the tune to but couldn't remember the words to.
Miles shot her a glare over his shoulder then turned back and continued to eat his meat. I don't understand why she keeps randomly humming… But it's okay, I guess…
She rolled onto her side and looked around, her focus landing on the creek. She sat up and sighed, not able to stay still for no apparent reason.
Miles finished his meat really fast, and put the bone beside him. He hugged his knees to his chest and rested his head on them. I think we should keep going…
"Should we put the fire out?" She asked, glancing over at him and nodding at the fire, "Or are we going to stay here until it burns out?"
"You can or don't have to, I don't really care…." He let out a sigh. Maybe I should go back to sleep…
Emmeline nodded and went silent, wondering if she had done something wrong. Miles seemed different today and she was worried she had done something wrong.
Miles slid down to the bank and wanted to see if there would be any fish, but didn't see any at first glance. I'm just extremely tired….. He rubbed a hand over his face, letting out a groaning sigh.
"You alright Miles?" She asked softly, hearing him groan and sigh at the same time. Her instincts immediately told her it was probably her fault but she pushed the thought aside, wanting to see if he really was alright.
"It's just part of the hangover…" He mumbled, resting his back onto the bank. Trust me it isn't your fault…
Emmeline nodded, going silent again. She shifted around again, this time rolling onto her stomach and facing the fire, propping her head up in her hands.
Miles stuck his toes in the water and let out another sigh. "You can put the fire out if you want…." He put his arms behind his back and deflated his chest, closing his eyes. I'm sorry about the way I'm acting…. I'm just not in the mood to do anything…
"Alright," She said, not moving a muscle towards putting the fire out. She was watching it, daydreaming and not paying attention to anything.
Miles just lied there, thinking. Where they were going, he had no idea. Why they were still there, he had no idea. Hopefully by tonight we'll have a good place to stay.
Emmeline went back to being quiet, completely lost in her daydreams. Nothing could make her snap back into reality it seemed. She tapped her fingers on her face and continued to just watch the fire.
Miles fell asleep and became a victim to another random nap. Hope she's alright.
She sighed and slowly came back to reality, shaking her head as she sat up normally. She glanced at Miles momentarily, "I'm going for a walk." She said, not waiting for his answer as she stood up and started to wander into the woods.
